In his memoir, 'Rainbow Warrior', he said, “The rainbow came from earliest recorded history as a symbol of hope. In the book of Genesis, it appeared as proof of a covenant between God and all living creatures. It was also found in Chinese, Egyptian, and Native American history."

He continued to explain, "What I liked about the rainbow is that it fits all of us. It’s all the colors. It represents all the genders. It represents all the races. It is the rainbow of humanity.”

Spanish pro footballer Borja Iglesias delivered a powerful message about homophobia in football, saying the real issue isn't being targeted with anti-gay slurs; it's that LGBTQ+ players still don't feel safe enough to be themselves.

Reflecting on the abuse he's received after painting his nails in support of LGBTQ+ inclusion during a 10 March interview with AS, Iglesias said the insults no longer carry the weight they once did.

"The first few times it affected me; I took it personally," Iglesias said. "After reflecting on it, I see things differently. Calling me a f*ggot, I don't consider that an insult. When a guy says that, I think I'd be happier being gay than being like him, with nothing better to do than insult people at the end of a match."

He added that what truly concerns him is the impact this hostility has on others: "What bothers me is that a gay person is afraid to come out because of these kinds of reactions. Not being able to be yourself and love who you want is unacceptable, which is why the fight against homophobia is essential and why I'm involved in it."

The Spanish international, who is part of Spain's 2026 World Cup squad, also reflected on football's deeply ingrained macho culture, saying it remains "sad" that openly gay male footballers are still virtually nonexistent at the highest level of the men's game.

Elizabeth Taylor knew the truth 🌈

Taylor was a vocal LGBTQ+ ally who tirelessly campaigned for equality and was the first major celebrity to publicly champion HIV and AIDS awareness. The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation is still operating today after being established in 1in 1991 to support direct-services initiatives for those living with HIV and AIDS.

While accepting the GLAAD Vanguard Award in 2000, Taylor said, "I could never understand why they couldn't be afforded the same rights and protections as all of the rest of us. There is no gay agenda. It's a human agenda."

"Why shouldn’t gay people be able to live as open and freely as everybody else?' she continued. "What it comes down to, ultimately, is love. How can anything bad come out of love? The bad stuff comes out of mistrust, misunderstanding and, God knows, from hate and from ignorance.”

A gay White Sox fan has shared a story of when he and his partner were harassed while watching a game, showing why Pride Nights are so important for LGBTQ+ fans.

Billy Nesnidal posted the video to his social media, where he talks about how he and his partner, Paul, were verbally harassed while watching an after-game fireworks display at a game.

Pride Nights are events held by sports teams to celebrate LGBTQ+ fans, giving them a safe space to enjoy the games.

Billy's story is a perfect example of why these kinds of events do so much work for the queer community.

The White Sox commented on the video, saying: "Thank you for sharing your experience, Billy. We know that isn’t always easy.
