@NikoSarcevic A physical example: music and spectral analysis. Our brains already do this and the maths just describe it. An analogy (although flawed in terms of the math): one of those abstract prints that you can see a 3D image emerge when you unfocus. The FT is the “unfocusing” to see it.

@MBKplus These actually used to be one of my favorite types of questions (except for the 10 min part, 1 min better)! They often explained their bias (honesty!) and gave me something to address or clarify. I felt most people were skeptics anyhow; bringing it into the open felt constructive
