Good question. Short answer - banks aren’t loan sharks and need to build their lending on some fundamentals.

Long answer. Equity selling is perhaps one of the oldest ways to build capital even predating banks. It is not a question of not having confidence because most founders live without an income for years. It is a question of who is willing to back your conviction. Banks aren’t allowed to lend to conviction. Because they have a fiduciary responsibility.

Equity capital allocators have a risk appetite that works for them.
