Gonna use this post to say this, as it’s relevant to what I want to say.
Green Day has been outspoken the entirety of their career. There was a live delay. They turned off his microphone for broadcasts any time there was something NBC didn’t like… ironic, given the setlist.
It was effective because everyone’s searching, seeing, or sharing Green Day’s interviews and political statements — some as recent as the night before. That’s a fucking win. Any other way simply would have been censored.
In my opinion, doing something “extreme” was predictable. I think the songs were just right and the messages were clearly there.
It makes Green Day unpredictable, which is good. Being predictable is an easy way to be silenced. We don’t know what their next move is anymore, do we? It’s important to not get blacklisted.
It’s also being used as a distraction. Don’t pull down the ones who have been outspoken since even before he was elected.
Don’t let bots influence or distract you. Stay focused. Don’t bring down people who have been outspoken since the beginning. They are not our enemy. This is why we can’t get anything done. 🤦🏼♀️
Instead of bitching, shouldn’t we spread Green Day’s messages on all those ragebait posts? Isn’t that much better than pulling each other down?
