yes, he was an American, but he was a known criminal who was breaking the law and had just taken a speedball of drugs before the police caught him after passing a bad check, or counterfeit fake money.. That doesn't make him a hero, the police did what they could, but they did not kill him. They used known and trained tactics to control him, but as the autopsies have showed, he died of the drug overdose and heart failure from that.
