During the pandemic John locked down here with his (electric) car. It would have been hard without it when we didn't feel public transport was an option, but we would have managed. Working out the longer term now.

This. When I gave up my car, lots of people said I was brave and they didn't think they could manage without a car. I said they probably could if they lived where I live. 1/n

This. I wish that not owning a car was considered more normal. We have two small children who are much the same age as Sally’s, and we live very near the centre of Reading, a large and well-connected town. We also choose not to own a car.

Which is 3 minutes walk from a station in a major city. Also 1 min from woods,then canal, then hills, but that's not the point of this tweet. Or maybe it is, because not all of us can live here, so what's the solution in rural areas? 2/n

@Frances_Coppola @JMThought Over the winter I spent at least as much on heating the house all day as my normal commuting cost (which is low, to be fair). Plus upgraded broadband cost.

@georginaebailey I can't wear heels and wear a lot of Ziera for smarts, which take my orthotics (though plenty of arch support anyway). Their X-ray style has a good strap. I used to have to get them from a specialist shop but they have a website now. Colours are a bit limited at the moment tho

I love the idea that migrants shouldn't be rescued because they've made bad decisions as if the RNLI don't regularly go out to pick up rich idiots who've bought a yacht they can't sail and taken it out in gail force winds.

@TfL Suggestion that you put new signs up to tell people face coverings still compulsory as a condition of carriage on TfL. Some genuinely think it's optional and the old signs have been left up. Talked to a couple today who just didn't know.
