Ochanya would have been 20 years this year studying Medicine and Surgery to save lives but Winifred's Family deprived her that dream.
Their last born, Ihotu, same age with Ochanya is living that dream now.
This case was swept under the carpet in 2018 because Winifred's Father had taught some politicians' children and he used their influence to cover up the family's atrocities.
Don't ask me how I know this much. We are from the same state, the same local government.
Their village is just a stone-throw from my village. A small river separated the two villages.
The news is everywhere within the communities. The communities want justice too but they are helpless since they are not as influential as the Andrew's family.
As we keep protesting online, Mr. Andrew is also calling some notable politicians too.
If we relent, this case will still be swept under the carpet like it was in 2018.
If this case goes away without justice, do you know how many children of her age would go through the same process?
Injustice to one is injustice to all.
Yesterday, Ochanya was the victim of cruelty.
What about tomorrow? It could be you, it could be me, it could be our sisters, it could be our daughters.
Please add your voice.
Ochanya d!ed in a cruel manner. She deserves justice.

This country is just unbelievable.
🇳🇬 has a severe shortage of dentists; less than 1 dentist per 45,000 people.
Meanwhile:
🦷Oral diseases are rising
🦷 Dental awareness is poor
🦷 And young doctors are already leaving en masse due to frustration.
Now, we’re pushing more to the edge? We’re stalling 300 future ones due to administrative chaos?
These students didn’t fail the system. The system is failing them.
And in the end, we all pay the price; in pain, poor health, and brain drain.
Dental students at the University of Calabar are stuck right now. How can the future of an entire faculty be thrown into such uncertainty?
Final-year students who’ve finished exams can’t move forward. Those still in training don’t even know if they’ll finish. There’s no proper communication, no structure, and no certainty.
This should not be happening. Not after all the years and sacrifices. These students deserve clarity, support, and a way forward.

After the Dental students of Unical went to see the VC and waited for hours outside her gate for the delegates sent along with the SUG president and current and emeritus president of the faculty, the following was deduced:

You have a system that admits students in huge numbers, collect fees, collect acceptance fee, dues, etc give them hope of belonging to a prestigious discipline knowing fully well you don’t have the facilities, accreditation or even quota to train and graduate them
You’re now telling them they have to transfer to other schools when you knew you couldn’t train them? Someone has to be held accountable, this won’t be swept under the rug

I think about this issue, and I painfully laugh! I've just been imagining if it was me. Becaausssee, I can actually run mad!
1. University of Calabar has reportedly asked over 300 dental students, from 200 level to 600 level, to go home. Not because they failed oo, not because they broke any rules, but because the university itself violated a regulatory limit by admitting far more students than approved by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
This is a complete violation of students’ futures.
I mean, think about the pain, think about the psychological trauma!
2. How does an institution, one that should embody diligence, one that should be meticulous about structure and vision, make the stupid mistake of admitting 90 students for a programme with an approved quota of 10? I even heard that they admitted over 900 for a course that the approved quota is 150! Why you dey bite more than wetin you fit chew. Are you people maaddd!!! The problem is, we always think that we can get away with so many irregularities in this country!
Who monitors these intakes? Where is the system of checks and balances that should have flagged this long before now?
3. These students are not statistics oo, they are human beings, many of whom have waited years before gaining admission, sat for UTME (maybe not once, not twice, not even three times and some even more), and invested the most vibrant years of their lives into chasing a noble dream of becoming dentists and serve humanity.
Today, they are being told, *“Go home.”*
You know Why? Because the university failed them. Leemaaoo!!
4. What makes this worse is the lack of accountability. No commitment to absorb the affected students into similar programmes. No roadmap. No hope. Just silence and suspension.
I honestly doubt that the university management understand the weight of what they have done. The mindless justification of “we’re following professional guidelines” rings hollow, when you were the ones who violated the guidelines in the first place.
If your children were affected, would this still be your response? Well, maybe, maybe not, but all of you are actually wicked! Haabbbaa!!
5. I mean, This is not the fault of the students.
This is a breach of their right to education.
This is a dent on the credibility of the university system.
This is in fact, a national embarrassment.
Some of these students may never return to school. Some may slide into depression, poverty, or worse. And this time, it won’t be because of personal failure, it will be because the system failed them.
6. I really hope that there's:
i. Immediate suspension of the directive sending the students home.
ii. Dialogue with MDCN to find possible remedy! There has to be a solution
iii. Government intervention at the level of the Federal Ministry of Education, because this cannot be treated as just a local UNICAL issue. It is a national disgrace.
Would have called on NANS to rise to the occasion, but RIP NANS.
7. In a country where opportunity is already a scarce commodity, to waste the lives of hundreds of young Nigerians because of institutional recklessness is unjust, it is evil. This cannot and must not be allowed to stand.
PRESS STATEMENT ON THE UNACCEPTABLE INJUSTICE AGAINST OVER 300 UNICAL STUDENTS: NAUS DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY AND IMMEDIATE REMEDIAL ACTIONS.

After painstakingly passing two parts of BDS exams.
After going through the ordeals of part 2 BDS that dealt with me and passing… no. No!

You cannot harvest tuition fees from 300 students over the span of half a decade, then decide to not graduate them.
It is not right. It doesn't happen anywhere.
After 6 years, you ask them to learn a trade - it is wickedness.
