As all I've done on this platform recently is report overtly racist and downright offensive posts, often with little effect, I've set up as 'classleading' on BlueSky - 'https://t.co/uFi1rDlLru'. I'll continue the reporting in the hope that 'X' starts to do the right thing...

@AdamHighcliffe The article is @SchoolsWeek suggest no actual drop in EHC plans until 2032 at the earliest, see item 3 https://t.co/Th0xavzpam I guess time will tell.
@ShakinthatChalk I generally like the idea of a uniform from an equity point of view, however I've seen all sorts of smart uniform that doesn't involve parents spending and arm and a leg on branded this that and the other
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP I'm simply explaining to you why I use that term and not alternatives. The research says that mobile devices can be helpful, powerful techology that used right helps pupils. However, in school ensuring acceptable risk is very challenging and other solutions give similar benefits.
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP Yes, they believe it and they also have evidence in their safeguarding logs to back up this belief. I started this thread with 'Staff should not use their own mobile phone for personal reasons in front of pupils throughout the school day', this already happens where I work.
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP ...I'm not ignoring the evidence. I fully acknowledge and accept what it says - low risk. However, for many schools low risk is not acceptable, because the consequences in some cases are severe. It is also not a personal belief but a reflection of what school leaders say.
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP Thanks for the snapshot, however the phrase 'evidence informed' was chosen carefully (rather than evidence-led or evidence-based). Being informed by the evidence is not the same as being driven by it, regardless of the consequences. Also...
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP I'm sure they would love to meet you. That way they can share with you the challenges of online bullying, inappropriate access to social media, secret filming of pupils and teachers (not to mention the online posting of this) while trying to keep their pupils safe.
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP ...and given the other comments made on here and other platforms often cite research (and I appreciate the research here), however, in practice the research doesn't help mitigate concerns from leaders.
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP Bring your own devices in school and pupil mobiles are largely unregulated devices. I'm not entirely sure why you feel the need to describe this as 'disingenuous' or 'slippage'. Describing me bringing an additional perspective as an 'anti-intellectual stance' is inaccurate...
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP I think on the ground, practitioners see the (sometimes severe) consequences of unregulated devices. When safer options are available, pragmatism guides practice.
@petergates3@bphillipsonMP I don't think technology is the issue, and I'd agree that schools are generally warm to suitable technology. It is possible to use safer managed devices with little compromise without the risks of byod mobile devices.
