Facebook had an internal mess up that caused problems for companies that market their products on the Facebook platform more than their own site. The outage was more than six hours long, and it should have been accessed and addressed faster. #rucrisiscom https://t.co/2bhiy2A8yj
@TanviGa51286614 Hey Tanvi! That shows a lot of restraint not confronting her for doing something like that. Avoidance seems like a conflict solution here that could have worked but unfortunately didn't. I hope it doesn't happen anymore!
@rchlfrmn Hey Rachel! I think its interesting in your second example that you went with avoidance! Avoidance in that situation scares me because I feel guilty and bad when other group members get the same grade as me when they do no work. I would rather we all get graded onour contribution
@fee_lizzie@mrnesi Hey Lizzie, I think conflict can be a positive experience too, but there is not always an effective conflict experience when teams are working together, and that can ruin the experience of good conflict resolution. #ruvirtuals21
#ruvirtuals21 Levy makes a good point in saying that by “identify(ing) conflicts in early stages and creating an environment that supports constructive controversy so that disagreements can be expressed” you can prepare for conflict within your team before it happens (169).
This makes sense when Levy says, “They are being cooperative, but it costs the team the value of their opinions and ideas” as they are not contributing as much (167).
#ruvirtuals21 2. One example was working with my manager at my last job in an office setting. I had a coworker who displayed inappropriate office behavior, and treated the office almost like a high school instead of a professional space.
The person who takes charge and leads the project usually compensates by assigning themselves less work, and the other group members accommodate as they were not the ones who took charge, and they are agreeable to a slightly larger workload.
to complete their part, but I used confrontation, and this week, our project for the week is already complete. Levi says, “Confrontation… acting aggressively and trying to win is one good way to deal with conflict” (167). I used confrontation to win not just for me, my team.
#ruvirtuals21 1. In normal situations, I usually see conflict in a negative light. I always see conflict as something like Levi says, “conflict over incompatible goals, competition for resources, cultural differences, and power discrepancies,” and I frame my views around
conflict as revolving around these problems (163). Working in a group for one of my classes this semester, I was left in conflict with my group members not completing their portion of the project. We were quite upset with each other as they were struggling in the last hour to try
@zzhaikelin Hey Ruonan!
I love that you picked president Obama as your leader. Such an inspiring man who shows so many amazing leadership qualities while still displaying a balance of his own personality to the public on social media.
@NickTorres21 Hey Nick!!!
LeBron is such an inspiring star and activist, and has really proven himself as a leader on and off the court in the past year, especially refusing to play during the BLM protests this past year. Great pick!
Ingerson & Bruce talk about leaders in the Twitterverse who talk about their personal matters and public persona on Twitter, and @KamalaHarris@VP has an awesome balance between her own person and her public persona with her Twitter! #LIDC93SP21
