Thirteen years ago, my administration acted to protect young people who were American in every single way but one: on paper.
DACA was an example of how we can be a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws. And it’s an example worth remembering today, when families with similar backgrounds who just want to live, work, and support their communities, are being demonized and treated as enemies.
We can fix our broken immigration system while still recognizing our common humanity and treating each other with dignity and respect. In fact, it’s the only way we ever will.
Check out this new op/ed by UNOS CMO Dr. Andy Klein in @Nephronline, where he talks about ways to strengthen the donation and transplant system that would’ve helped him avoid some challenges he faced as a liver transplant surgeon📝 https://t.co/8lgKvHDfJl
"My session will explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and organ donation and transplantation. As AI technology evolves, I believe it has the potential to significantly improve how we approach organ allocation and ultimately, save more lives." Join UNOS' CTO Ankit Mathur at #UNOSTMF2025. More than 7,000 people were living donors in 2024, saving the lives of people in need of a lifesaving transplant. This #LivingDonorDay, we encourage you to learn more about the power of living donation and to sign up to be an organ donor. https://t.co/EyBvnoYKWd
Lifesaving organs should not be transported as cargo. UNOS is advocating for policy changes to ensure organs travel in airplane cabins, reducing delays and improving transplant outcomes. Learn more about our efforts to modernize organ transportation ✈️ ❤️ https://t.co/UfuTLFE1Km
Nearly 90,000 people in the U.S. are waiting for a kidney transplant. A new model aims to change that by increasing kidney transplants for Medicare patients, improving care, quality, and enhancing transparency. Read more: https://t.co/bfQOqddpx9
As UNOS' CEO, Maureen McBride, said: "We must prioritize the safe and efficient transportation of donated organs by allowing them to travel in the main cabin of airplanes to ensure organs are handled with care and avoid damage, delay or loss."
Thank you @RepBethVanDuyne and @repcleaver for your leadership on this important issue.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with @UNOSNews on my bipartisan Organ Donation Referral Improvement Act, which aims to improve and expedite the organ donation referral process.
Thank you, Dr. McBride, for stopping by my office to discuss how we can increase the number of organ donations and save lives!
UNOS is urging the federal government to mandate tracking for donor organs.
No national tracking system for donor organs exists, leaving OPOs, transplant hospitals, and the government without consistent transit insights. A centralized, mandatory federal tracking system would enhance visibility, driving systemwide improvements. We can track Amazon packages-why not lifesaving organs?

In 2024, the U.S. passed 48,000 lifesaving transplants. This is more transplants than the United States has ever performed in one year and represents a critical step in the nationwide effort to increase the number of lifesaving organ transplants while improving the system. Thank you to the gracious donors, their courageous families, transplant professionals, OPOs and the entire community, made this milestone possible.

‼️ This is SO important to know, and SO many don't!! We MUST watch our use of certain meds, including the ones most of us take most often -- OTC pain meds! ‼️
A recent analysis of OPTN data reveals that people willing to accept an HIV+ kidney under the HOPE Act experience shorter waiting times for transplant. This could mean faster access and better outcomes for those living with HIV. #HIVAwarenessMonth https://t.co/fRa2rRVYrL
Thank you @RepBethVanDuyne & @repcleaver for championing improved air transportation of organs! Read their bipartisan letter urging @USDOT & @FAANews to swiftly establish a workgroup to transport lifesaving organs in the main cabin of an airplane again.

UNOS supports the passage of the FAA reauthorization bill, which requires DOT to form a workgroup to look into how organs can once again travel safely in a plane’s cabin. Read more🔗: https://t.co/MkvgsBo7pF
