@XfinitySupport Xfinity techs severed our underground line yesterday while burying the neighbor’s cable. We had an appointment today, and the technicians failed to show. Hard to work from home without internet!
An alcoholic friend of Philip Yancey once said to him:
“When I'm late to church, people turn around and stare at me with frowns of disapproval.
I get the clear message that I'm not as responsible as they are.
When I'm late to AA, the meeting comes to a halt and everyone jumps up to hug and welcome me.
They realize that my lateness may be a sign that I almost didn't make it.
When I show up, it proves that my desperate need for them won out over my desperate need for alcohol."
I do not believe that anyone needs my opinion on Israel or Gaza.
I do not believe my opinions on Church issues are vital.
I have no piercing insights into world, national or Church events that are necessary for anyone.
What I do have is broken heart for the way things are and a conviction that it does not have to be this way.
What I do have is knowledge of some of my sins and patterns of sin that make the world around me worse.
What I do have is the ability to pray anytime, anywhere; to place my feelings and fears on the altar of the Lord.
I cannot change the world or the Church with my opinion, but I can let God change me and help me to act like I wish I felt, to pray and be peaceful.
Give me the grace, Oh Lord to do what I can to help, not what I want or what is easy.
I give it all to you.

We're living in the greatest time ever for the most people ever on the earth.
If you're spending your time arguing with random strangers on the internet, you're wasting your one, very precious life doing the most meaningless thing you could possibly do.
Impatience is an enemy of spiritual growth. God is not in the business of quick fixes and shortcuts.
We must be willing to endure short-term acute pain in order to experience long-term growth and transformation.
Following Jesus and becoming like him takes time - lots of it.
@sketchysermons I talked myself into and out of the Remarkable multiple times - but now i use the Kindle Scribe and LOVE it. I traded my old kindle and got 20% off the scribe. Maybe not apples-to-apples functionality, but it does what I need.
@JonahDispatch Half-baked: You can’t buy a high capacity, high velocity firearm if you are still on your parents’ health insurance plan. It isn’t about age as much as ambition and responsibility. (Also not opposed to requiring liability insurance with said firearms, as w/ cars.)
