@LeonieGreene There is an old adage: To err is human; to really f things up requires a computer. What happens when we can’t reboot or switch it off? #AI#ML#GeoAI#GISchat
@ElliottBlackwe3 It was a book about a young girl who found a golden conker in woodland. When she held it she could understand everything that the birds and animals were saying. I loved that book. It was old, even in the 60’s. Sadly, I can’t remember the name 😊

It was the first book I bought with my own money that I earned by helping my parents around the house and in the garden. I was in third grade.
Did you know? When eurostar trains travel under the sea, sand accumulates on the outside. The airflow at 300 kmh dries it, and when they stop in Paris, it falls off and forms mini sand-dunes.

I am delighted how many slow worms are living under the dustbin lid in our tiny city centre garden! I have heard that the name for a group of slow worms is a gloss… so look at our glossy huddle! So pleased that there are enough invertebrates to keep them fed and thriving.
Today is my last day at the BBC. To be totally open, I’m being made redundant
Whether running More Or Less during the pandemic, reporting on Grenfell & the climate, I’m extraordinarily proud of my work
Public service broadcasting can be engaging & essential & I hope to continue
Bees are the most important species on Earth and highly intelligent creatures. They can count, solve puzzles and even use simple tools.
One out of every three mouthfuls of food we eat is dependent on insect pollinators, such as bees
Stop poisoning them

This is huge: China announces that they'll "give all Least Developed Countries (LDCs) having diplomatic relations with China, including 33 countries in Africa, zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent tariff lines".
This means zero-tariff on all products or goods exported to China from these countries.
China also pledged RMB360 billion yuan (approximately $49.8 billion USD) in financial support to Africa over the next three years.
Good news: After getting off to a late start in the energy transition, Poland is making up for lost time.
Over the first 7 months of 2024, renewables comprised 30.2% of electricity - nearly double the levels seen just three years ago.

Coal once provided 70% of UK electricity.
Soon it will be 0%: On September 30, 2024, the UK's last remaining coal-fired power station, Ratcliffe-on-Soar in Nottinghamshire, will close.
Momentous: The UK, home to the world’s first coal power station in 1882, will stop using coal to generate electricity this month, the 1st G7 country to do so
Coal supplied 80% of UK electricity in 1990. Remember: they said it couldn't be done

People say to me, “You’re against using AI in writing because you don’t want the poor to be writers.” No, I want you to flourish creatively. I want you to know the joy of working hard to master something. I want you to be amazed by what you can do when you try.
