@jeronevw@getify I'm not American, but I've found the country to be fairly diverse in terms of regional culture. Try ordering "tea" in different parts of the country, for example.
After seeing users struggle with YAML and the “two spaces at end of a line for a linebreak” rule in Markdown, I can definitively say that any tool which hinges important semantics on invisible characters ... is a mistake.
The web isn’t just another software platform. It’s the greatest software platform the world has ever seen. No permissions, no masters, readable source code. Let’s protect the heritage, work in its service, and remind ourselves just what a marvel it all really is ❤️🙏
@mjaeckel The same approach is used with family violence, child abuse, etc. It's not uncommon for relatives to deny an event happened.
Same with media reporting sexual assaults—potential victims then don't realize an area is dangerous.
@mjaeckel Why? My observation is that when we are very uncomfortable about a topic, we prefer to pretend it doesn't exist. The idea of female bullies makes us uncomfortable, even though it is not uncommon.
