Our institutions don’t protect themselves. The reason Trump was unsuccessful in overthrowing our democracy after the 2020 election was because of brave individuals like Ms. Wandrea “Shaye” Moss standing up to do the right thing. Today we say “thank you."

@brainpicker I have a brother who just visited and could see in his eyes and face the inner satisfaction of familial surroundings. He hasn’t lived in NY in 14 years, but would gladly return. I moved back to my hometown almost 2 years ago after trauma. I am feeling myself again.

@SecDebHaaland@Interior I’m conflicted this year as I will soon be registered with the upper Mohawk band. (who fought for the British) My father’s people were patriots, so I’ve lived free from tyranny while mother’s people have lived on the Canadian Six Nations reserve. It’s OK to be conflicted.
@Reuters All of us benefit from knowing our roots. My native ancestors fought my white ancestors in NY in opposing sides of the Revolutionary War. My Mohawk people were given land in Canada along the Grand River for supporting the British. Some Long Island relative owned slaves. I’m a mix
