We celebrated the graduation of 179 seniors at Calvary Christian High School last night. I’m grateful for the privilege of addressing these graduates and their families. Next year we will start the fall with over 900 High School students at CCHS.
Bill Maher asks how the government is “failing the poor so badly” when he pays “60 PERCENT” of his earnings in taxes.
“Last week was tax day… I paid the government probably almost 60% of what I earn. That’s a lot.”
“And I… wouldn’t mind if Bernie Sanders would stop saying the rich don’t pay taxes.”
“The top 10% pay 72% of all federal income taxes. And the bottom half, 3%.”
“The Democratic Socialists talk about socialism like we don’t already have a lot: Social Security, unemployment, Medicare, nutritional assistance, Medicaid, Obamacare, disability, housing subsidies.”
“How can you be soaking the rich and failing the poor so badly? How can it be that the federal government alone took in over 5 trillion in taxes last year, and we still need that?”
“Are we really this incompetent and corrupt?”
If you were betting in 1st century on WHAT would last the longest—Roman Empire or Christianity—WHO would have the greatest influence—Caesar Augustus or Jesus—you bet the farm on Rome. 2000 years later, CAESAR IS A SALAD and two billion people celebrate Easter #ChristIsRisen@NCC
No one became their best by focusing on someone else’s flaws and mistakes. Let’s not bash Tiger Woods. Let’s pray for the healing he needs. Everyone has a hole in their soul. You can fill it up with alcohol and things that bring temporary relief but don’t bring restoration. Or you can fill it up with God’s love and presence that heals and restores you. We all are looking to fill the hole. When you fill it with God you won’t need or want anything else.
I’m getting a ton of calls from players and parents about transferring. “We want this and we want that….” I respect and hear you but the ruthless game of baseball has never cared about our “wants.” It requires and it needs specifics from you. The system of college baseball and sports right now is cut throat!! Go where you are wanted. Go where there is an opportunity for you to compete for more opportunities. Simple, not easy. It’s cut throat. It’s uncomfortable, intimidating, frustrating, scary for some,… doubtful for some,… it’s chaotic at the least. For some, it’s not your first rodeo and for others, strap in! Coaches are looking for EXPERIENCE, consistency, physicality, focused players who will compete! This isn’t a time to be picky.
“The man on the middle cross said I could come.”
Please watch and be reminded about what this Holy Week and Easter is all about. Shoutout @AlistairBegg
