Crucial thing I’ve learned from building 3 businesses from the last ten yrs - Don’t just build more startups. Build businesses that compound.
- my first business taught us how to find our ICP, acquire customers offline, and build communities.
- the second business grew from that same customer base. We reused the relationships, distribution channels, and growth playbook we’d already built.
- then my third business followed those same customers from education into their careers.
Each business made the next one easier to build.
I see a lot of founders launching completely unrelated apps. Nothing wrong with that, but there’s a huge advantage in building around an audience you already understand.
Your next startup doesn’t always need a new audience or a new acquisition strategy.
Before starting from zero, I always ask myself:
Can I cross-sell to existing customers? Reuse proven acquisition channels? Solve another problem for the same ICP?
Customer relationships, distribution, and market insights should compound across businesses. Don’t rebuild your growth engine every time you launch something new.
Here's my journey so far. Would love to #connect with fellow founders🍻
-Business 1: Local lifestyle platform (mastered offline ICP acquisition and built our own private communities for long-term retention)
-Business 2: Education startup(built on Business 1’s customer base, replicated our community-led growth playbook, and scaled to a team of nearly 50)
-Business 3: Career & recruitment platform (expanded into career services by leveraging Business 2’s student base, serving thousands of Chinese and Australian clients annually)
By 24, we’d generated over $2M in profit, largely driven by organic marketing.
Now ALL in on building a marketing agency, helping startups turn attention into revenue.
Our unique edge comes from years of hands-on experience in offline acquisition, community building, and scaling businesses. Now we’re combining that experience with AI to rethink how marketing works.
Here to share what we’ve learned and connect with more founders!
looking to grow my network on X!
if you're marketer, startup founder, builder, designer, developer, ai fan, let's connect!
I’ve shifted away from LinkedIn because X feels like a much better space to connect with people and exchange ideas.
For AI startups, getting users is less about posting more and more about building a repeatable distribution system.
1️⃣Find high-intent signals. Monitor Reddit, X, GitHub issues, and niche communities for people actively complaining about problems your product solves.
2️⃣Build programmatic SEO and GEO. Create scalable, use-case-specific pages that capture long-tail searches and help AI search engines understand your product.
3️⃣Leverage integration ecosystems. Build integrations with tools your ICP already uses and tap into their existing distribution channels.
4️⃣Turn users into distribution. Design shareable outputs, collaborative workflows, and referral loops directly into your product.
5️⃣Track activation, not just signups. Identify the actions that predict retention, then optimise onboarding around those moments.
The real advantage isn’t getting attention. It’s building a system that consistently turns attention into retained users.
A lot of early-stage startups obsess over impressions, followers, and engagement.
Those metrics matter, we track them too — and let’s be real, growing followers feels great 🥹
But don’t lose the plot: traffic isn’t the goal.
If 10,000 people see your content and none of them actually need what you sell, those impressions probably won’t turn into real business growth.
On the other hand, if only 100 people see it, but a good chunk of them are dealing with the exact problem you solve, those 100 might be way more valuable.
Couldn’t agree more! One thing I’ve noticed from working with different brands is that many focus too much on aesthetics, but not enough on what actually makes customers trust them.
A beautiful website doesn’t necessarily mean a credible business. Sometimes clear pricing, genuine customer reviews, transparent policies, and addressing customer concerns matter far more than visual perfection.
I think good design should start with understanding how customers perceive trust, rather than just what the brand thinks looks good!!
Followed! Nice to meet you, Chris! I’m also really interested in the Chinese market and have quite a bit of hands-on experience with Xiaohongshu growth and marketing. Would love to connect and exchange more in-depth insights on growth strategies and the opportunities in the Chinese market!

a very social person and genuinely love meeting new people. Not here just to collect followers. I’d love for us to become internet friends, chat about random things, exchange ideas, and get to know each other beyond just likes and reposts.
feel free to say hi anytime🌎🙆🏻♀️
I find the idea of a “technical moat” a bit paradoxical.
Customer acquisition can be a moat too. A real competitive moat can take many forms.
It doesn’t always have to be technology. Even the audience you’ve built can be your moat.
one of the hardest things for founders and marketers is learning to stop chasing vanity metrics
Tbh it goes against human nature☠️
Getting 100K views or 1,000 new followers gives you instant satisfaction. But finding the right ICP, validating demand, and converting real customers takes much longer.
Reach, engagement, and follower growth can all be valuable leading indicators. The problem isn’t paying attention to metrics. It’s letting easy wins and instant gratification replace real customer validation.
