Blocking necessary medical aids, treatment, & services constitute crimes against humanity.Illegal junta must cease all violence & let people thru to deliver medical equipments, treatment, including oxygen, masks, etc.Must be held accountable for inhumane acts.
Lacking legitimacy, #Myanmar's military junta is incapable of governing, let alone confronting a major #COVID19 outbreak in the country. The military has harassed & arrested hundreds of healthcare workers even as people are dying without adequate medical care or access to oxygen.
“We can’t breathe between coup and Covid.”
The situation in Myanmar is dire. Today I spoke to a doctor in Mandalay. She says oxygen has become near impossible to source, two of her colleagues have died and so many are in need of urgent help.

Doctors in Myanmar say many people are dying in their homes, alone, too afraid to seek medical assistance for fear of spreading the virus to loved ones. They know the junta’s medical system will not help them. Cries for international help are louder than ever.

Here is a translation of my message about the arrest & torture of Hlan Phyo Aung. The world must know about the living hell that has become daily life for so many in Myanmar. Inaction must no longer be an option.
I am releasing an open letter to Min Aung Hlaing asking if he will honor his ASEAN Summit commitment to an "immediate cessation of violence," and order forces under his command to stop attacking those exercising their right to protest his coup and junta. https://t.co/sWC30LSdx8
Across Asia and around the world, people will be following this weekend's #ASEAN summit in Indonesia to see if the organization will finally uphold its responsibility to protect #Myanmar's people. Sovereignty is not a license to kill.
Food insecurity is rising sharply in Myanmar in the wake of the military coup, with millions more expected to go hungry in coming months, the United Nations said #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar
A new year has ushered in a new National Unity Govt for Myanmar, committed to equal rights and citizenship for ALL including "justice for our Rohingya brothers and sisters..." I look forward to working w them to build international support & action.
Update: Mobile data has now been cut in #Myanmar for five weeks as limited fixed-line internet is restored as of 9 am Sunday, after the 63rd night of post-coup shutdowns 📵
Online platforms remain restricted and communications are severely curtailed.

Thingyan should be a celebration of joy, but unfortunately there is nothing to celebrate in Myanmar. I hope it is true that sprinkling water washes away sins. So many sins have been committed since 1st February. I hope to celebrate Thingyan with all released again in the future.
US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield has delivered a powerful message to the people of Myanmar & the world with a call to action:"The US stands with you...We cannot allow them (the junta) to succeed...only concrete action will change the military's calculus." Exactly.
Joint Statement of the Ambassadors to Myanmar from Australia; Canada; the Delegation of the EU and Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Sweden; New Zealand; Norway; the Republic of Korea; Switzerland; United Kingdom and United States.
"We can kill 500 people in an hour if we want to" Zaw Min Htun, spokesperson of Min Aung Hlaing's terrorist junta revealed their genocidal intention during the press.
