We are lobbying to make virtual spaces more inclusive for users with disabilities #DEI4GLAM (created by Madelaine Cirka, Geneva Gillis, Vicky Jamieson)
@MSL_conference Thanks for catching this! Alt text needs to become a common social media practice so that we are inclusive of all users and their abilities.
@DesReeB1@costisd Yes, the user interface itself can be quite confusing, which is why #fb is actively working with developers to improve site accessibility. Our plug-in would ensure that accessibility is not an afterthought.
@costisd Cognitive accessibility would absolutely be taken into consideration, and I think it would be an excellent chance to incorporate collaborative definitions and meaning making drawing from other digital sources!
@MSL_conference Great point! This is definitely something that would need to be taken into consideration during development. Thank you for your comment!

11 Responding to the diversity of users’ needs is paramount in fostering an inclusive social media presence. We encourage GLAM institutions to create actionable social media accessibility policies to ensure disabled users have equal access to their virtual content #DEI4GLAM
I love the idea of using social media for community consultation! Especially in the current age of COVID; I could see this being an essential tool for 'conference-like' collaboration - Madelaine #DEI4GLAM
@katelynprocopio Other than polls, creating collaborative Instagram live videos with people from different cultural communities to discuss their culture would break the overgeneralization of the gallery and showcase the diversity of cultures represented in this gallery. #dei4glam
@stitchyourstory I love the idea of having these in the PERMANENT collection! It's incredibly empowering and impactful for welcoming youth into museums!
