#ANSER2026: We are participating in the ANSER Conference 2026 happening in #Brussels, #Belgium from May 6 to 8, joining global researchers, policymakers, advocates, and practitioners advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in an increasingly complex world.
Our Executive Director, Dr. @aflodiskagaba will moderate a panel discussion this Friday on “Climate change and SRHR: Emerging evidence and responses,” featuring Céline Delacroix (@PopInstitute), Stephanie Marriott (@world_midwives), Veronique Filippi (@LSHTM), and @CeliaGroothedde, Member of the Brussels Parliament & Belgian Senate.
As climate-related crises continue to affect vulnerable communities, conversations on equitable, rights-based, and resilient SRHR systems are more urgent than ever.

Today in @KayonzaDistrict , we convened a community dialogue on gender inclusion and diversity in rural #Rwanda, in partnership with African Population and Health Research Center @aphrc. The dialogue brought together parents, healthcare providers, law enforcement, religious leaders, and community members to reflect on how communities can become safer, more supportive spaces for everyone. Inclusion begins in the community.

Made it to Saint-Louis, Senegal!
If I tell you I fell in love with the city the moment I stepped foot in it, believe me!
The city is so colorful. The people here are reserved yet humble, deeply rooted in their cultural values.
Saint-Louis is home to one of its most iconic bridges, listed as a UNESCO heritage site. It was built by Eiffel and has designs reminiscent of the Eiffel Tower. Made entirely of metal, it connects several islands and spans the Senegal River, which also serves as the border between Senegal and Mauritania.
Back in the day, colonizers of this country lived here, and it was the very first capital city in all of West Africa—making it Senegal’s first capital before Dakar took the title.
Life here is peaceful, affordable, and beautiful. The sunsets are stunning, the fish incredibly fresh, and the city’s rhythms unforgettable.
I can’t find words to fully describe the feelings this city gave me, but it made me feel like a proud African, seeing how it reflects the life and spirit of every African person.
This city changed me. Somehow, it feels like parts of me have always been here—or will forever belong here.

Today, as Rwanda joins the rest of the world to mark #WorldMalariaDay2026, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting efforts to #EndMalaria. #Rwanda has made remarkable progress, reducing malaria dramatically over the years, but recent increases remind us that the fight is far from over. Sustained action, innovation, and community engagement remain essential to protect these gains and save lives. #ZeroMalariaStartsWithMe #WorldMalariaDay #EndMalaria
#Kwibuka32: Sustaining #MentalHealth support critical to Rwanda’s continued healing. Over and above the 100 days, there is need to sustain mental health support beyond the commemoration period, embedding it in everyday healthcare and community systems to ensure long-term healing for survivors and society. ✍️ Dr @Niyomugabojea19. https://t.co/3MmyrGPCc1 via @NewTimesRwanda
@airtelrw What does one have to do to get support from you? Why are services so slow? How come, it’s been 5 consecutive days and your support team can’t solve my problem?
As we conclude our Strategic Reflection in @RubavuDistrict, I am reminded that this moment comes at a deeply meaningful time for me & for all of us at @HDIRwanda. On 13 March 2026, we marked 20 years of existence - two decades of #AdvancingHealthRights in Rwanda🇷🇼
Day 2 of HDI’s Strategic Reflection opened with a recap session led by Deputy Executive Director @dusengeariane, creating space for participants to reflect on Day 1 discussions. Through an interactive online platform, participants shared key takeaways, feedback, and expectations, capturing reflections on governance alignment, safeguarding, risk management, and strengthening the Strategic Plan as an evolving framework. #AdvancingHealthRights
Just got back from @RIB_Rw hq to file a case for the street cleaning ladies against the Mayor & his team & it was a very disappointing experience..im sick yet i decided to hold my promise to the ladies..then i get to RIB & they say my legs will distract their investigators..
Today, in @RubavuDistrict, Health Development Initiative (HDI) is convening its Board and Management for a Strategic Reflection, marking a critical moment as we advance with the implementation phase of our 2025–2029 Strategic Plan. HDI continues to advance health and human rights in Rwanda, with a strong focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). This Strategic Reflection ensures alignment between governance, management, and strategic priorities. 📸 @inezahamza #AdvancingHealthRights
#CSW70 highlighted the importance of sustained progress in advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across Africa. Countries, including #Rwanda🇷🇼, #Tunisia🇹🇳 & others , continue to take evidence-based steps to expand access to services, strengthen health systems, and address barriers affecting women and girls’ health, dignity, and well-being.
On the sidelines of #CSW70, HDI Rwanda joined the Government of Rwanda (@RwandaGov) and regional partners in highlighting how countries are translating commitments like CEDAW and the #MaputoProtocol into action, through legal reform, improved service delivery, and stronger protection systems for women and girls.
The message was clear: Laws matter, but Implementation and Collaboration matter even more.
We are happy to reflect on two weeks of meaningful
engagement, dialogue, and partnership the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW70) in New York (March 9–19), meaningful weeks of aimed toward advancing gender equality and the rights of women and girls across Africa.
The global community reaffirmed a clear priority at #CSW70: advancing access to justice for all women and girls as the foundation for equality, dignity, and
sustainable development. This year’s session underscored one thing: progress is happening, but it must accelerate through coordinated, evidence-driven action.
Every day, Zero Discrimination is a principle that informs how we design and deliver our services, ensuring that they are accessible and inclusive for all.
Together with our partners @SwedeninRW, @TicoRwanda, and others, this Friday, we observed Zero Discrimination Day; reflecting on our progress, achievements, gaps and renewing our shared commitment to leaving no one behind.
