Post training scran at @BurtonRFC. We’re treated to a feast every other training session which gives all players #TimeToTalk. I know @BartonHockey will like this. Any other sports clubs as lucky as we are?
Best thing you’ll see all day…
A 13 year old Erik Ten Hag telling Johan Cruyff how a trainer should communicate with his players.
See thread for translation.
"This Christmas there'll be little girls asking for a pair of football boots and it'll classed as normal. That's what makes us happiest."
Special words from a special person.

Great insight, would love to see him connect this understanding with his sessions, and how to develop the awareness and behaviours of players as a result.
@daviesGDD 1. Players in position to defend
(Lying on Ground - LOG)
(Back in Game - BIG)
Correct alignment/numbering
2. Players in position to attack
How many genuine options?
How effective would they be? Static/in motion/attacking a space that is being defended?
3. Plyr-plyr interactions
Another great piece. Would he have this depth without seeing all these pictures? Can we create this level of composure in decision making on 1-2 hours a week training?
Steve Black was the king of coaching and this clip encapsulates what he was about👇
🗣”If anything goes wrong at any time, forget it and wipe the slate clean. You’re all good players, all I want you to remember is how good of a player you are.”
He's a player who divides opinion but there's few 10's out there who can pull off the 'I'm disinterested & don't want the ball' look before then doing something spectacular than Finn Russell!
Incredible finish by Graham too!

Awesome summary of everything that’s going on with Women’s rugby for 2022. Hands down one of the biggest years ever for us.
The support of the people with get us through it all 🙏🏽

Love the simplicity of the explanation and letting players know what to expect when introducing a new concept so they feel secure when they’re developing their own understanding. Consistent common terminology is a huge part of coaching, would have been awesome to see the session!
Im a big fan of using pitch marking and reference points in small sided games. Helps players with distances, positioning and connecting with units/team. Tailor the design to the purpose. Been a big part of my development as a coach last 3 years. 🎬⚽️
Helping players (& coaches) to develop their game understanding can be done in the simplest ways.
This task is designed to provoke thought, to get players to consider body language, technical execution, & tactical intention. There's no 'correct' answer either!
Then creating different carry situations, we’re talking about how we can get the ball back, as opposed to just ‘tackle them’. Can we use their momentum, counter it, have them land a certain way for a player on their feet to steal… been fun seeing players explore opportunities 🏉
Were working with players, age 11-19, to develop common language around the tackle so we can recognise what went well or could improve.
Hit - dip and rise - knock them off balance
Stick - squeeze - so they have no room to move
Drive - hit through the player - finish on top
Tackle technique and associated outcomes (injury and performance) and number of studies in analysis.
NOTE: this is Rugby Union not Football.
