So a PM elected by <1% of the UK population, tells an unelected head of state (in top 1% of emitters globally) not to fly to Egypt for COP27, to tell other countries (of which only 13% are ‘full democracies’) to reduce emissions

@KevinClimate@KateRaworth
@Peters_Glen It's about control - the bullet in your analogy can be made in a less destructive (but more costly) way ie blue hydrogen - whereas the gun&trigger just have to deal with the bullet that's available
@goldstandard @Bankfieldbecky @WCumbriaMining But how can you ensure this is the case if you don’t control who can buy your credits? Surely this is the bedrock of a robust market?

Top right quadrant needs to flourish to make this new economy a reality
@GeraintThomas86 G how did you get drawn into this!? Using your influence to promote a 2.5 tonne truck as climate change starts to bite? You are so much better than this
@Jan_Vrins@ehpabrussels@Sustainable2050@GretaThunberg @NavigantEnergy What do the shareholders do with their increased 'value'? Spend it in a carbon neutral way, or more likely spend it on things that will increase emissions!?
Excellent talk by @lorddeben tonight "stop 'Tory' this and 'Green' that... the less party political we are, the more effective we are".
@OxClimateSoc you rock
One week, two meetings - a worldview apart. The history books will remember us as The Age of Dissonance, whose international institutions were simply unable to connect ecology and economy.
"As long as government policies emphasize growing GDP as a national priority, and as long as transnational corporations relentlessly pursue greater shareholder returns by ransacking the earth, we will continue accelerating toward global catastrophe."
We need to restructure the fundamentals of our global system to prioritize the health of living systems over short-term wealth production.

@OxfordCity @OxfordshireCC @BrokenSpokeCoop@TheOxfordMail OK thanks. Seems odd to me that the City Council doesn't have jurisdiction over this and worries me that you're happy to pass the buck
