Title: Our Preeq.

My best friend really shouldn’t have bragged so much about her man’s preeq, because that only made me want try it out. Everyday, ‘Babe, I can’t walk well’. She would pantomime with her legs caved in, acting like she needed breeze between her thighs. One day, she came to my house, rushed directly to my AC and pulled her gown up. I was shocked as my eyes dropped lower. She was bent over and I could see her lower lips. They were plump, red and so swollen.

I lost my aunty today because of her husband.

So last year, she found out she had breast cancer and the doctor advised her to do mastectomy. Instead, she opted for lumpectomy because her husband told her that he cannot stay married to a woman without breast, that a woman without breast is a man.

The cancer returned back and spread throughout her body.

I was shopping at ASOS, shipping stuff into Nigeria as a fresh graduate at 19. Buying stuff from international markets, enjoying the kind of life that isn't accessible to some 40 year olds today. You could make cross border payments with your Mastercard.
That is the life of comfort APC took from you.

There was disposable income. We ate almost weekly from Shoprite. Malls were always packed. People were building houses and sending kids to private Universities on 200k salaries. Golden penny spaghetti was 50 naira. One egg was 20 naira. One pure water was 5 naira.

They took your YOUTH from you. Don't allow them do the same to your children.

A President and the Endless Question of His Past

As a citizen of no other country, who has never sought foreign citizenship even when doing so became fashionable, my loyalty to Nigeria and my faith in her destiny remain unshaken.

Yesterday, 30th of August, being Sunday, I fervently prayed for our nation and for those entrusted with the solemn responsibility of leadership. I found myself deeply saddened by the direction in which our country is heading.

It is profoundly embarrassing that we have reached a point where a sitting President is asking a foreign court to withhold records concerning his past, particularly records relating to matters of legitimate public interest.

Leadership, in my humble view, demands the courage and humility to confront one’s history — to acknowledge mistakes, provide candid explanations where questions arise, and, where necessary, apologise and seek forgiveness. True authority is strengthened, not diminished, when a leader accepts responsibility rather than seeks to shield uncomfortable aspects of the past from legitimate scrutiny.

This becomes particularly important when questions concern educational credentials. Issues surrounding foundational schooling — primary and secondary — should not remain unresolved or be addressed primarily through legal proceedings. Nigerians deserve clear, credible, and verifiable explanations, especially when such had been submitted in the past.

My deepest concern is the example this sets for more than 200 million Nigerians, particularly the over 30 million young people in schools. The nation’s highest office should exemplify integrity, accountability, transparency, and ethical leadership.

An imperfect past is part of the human condition. What matters is the willingness to confront it with humility, honesty and deep apology, to make amends where necessary and, when circumstances so demand, to place the interests of the nation above personal ambition.

When will our political class fully appreciate that individual ambitions are temporary, while the nation endures? The Presidency is an office held for a season; the moral standards established by those who occupy it can influence generations.

Nigeria is greater than any one person, and the integrity of the Republic must always come before the interests of the individual.

A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

As for me, whenever Nigeria calls me, I will answer. It's my home and there's nothing I can do about it. It's a trash country, but it's my trash country. I don't have another one. But having said that, I won't be jumping up and being a hero like I did in 2023. Not because I have a problem with lighting myself on fire and suffering alone, but because I saw firsthand that it does not work.

You people want heroes, but heroes are not what you need. All a hero is in Nigeria is a dead guy that becomes a symbol for late night igbo-smoking and rhythmic swaying to a fake-deep Burna Boy tribute soundtrack. A hero is a completely useless thing in Nigeria. What you people need is a full-spectrum nationwide rebellion that is so vicious, bloody and violent that it will alter the entire course of West African history.

What you don't need is another individual hero who will end up dead or in jail so that you will tweet "Free XYZ" or enthusiastically smoke igbo while singing along to the posthumous Burna Boy tribute song. So never ask me to "come back and lead" anything. When I come back, it will be the same way I left Abuja - arm in arm with thousands of my contemporaries marching down Shehu Shagari Way in unison.

It won't be to become yet another useless Nigerian hero symbol that cannot change the price of garri in the market.
