The return of New World screwworm to the United States decades after its initial eradication is a disappointing milestone, but it’s also one for which dairy producers have been preparing for more than a year, in collaboration with @USDA and across agriculture. Read our full statement:

This evening, I hosted a call with Texas media alongside @USDA Under Secretary Dudley Hoskins and Texas animal health officials to provide an update on the confirmed detection of New World Screwworm (NWS) in South Texas and outline our immediate response efforts.
We briefed reporters on the aggressive actions we are taking right now in close partnership with state authorities to contain and eradicate the pest and reinforced the fact our food supply remains 100% safe.
We are urging producers and animal owners to follow movement restrictions and treatment guidance provided by @TAHC.
USDA will continue providing regular updates as we work closely with state partners, industry stakeholders, and producers to stop the spread and protect American agriculture.
I know generally everyone loves the forecasts right now with the lack of heat and generally wet maps but I DO NOT LIKE this setup for the eastern grain belt.
We need to watch this closely over the next 6-10 days with rain forecasts vs outcomes.
A ridge placed here lines up with years like 1988, 2012 and 2023.
We do have a different global wind pattern this year vs those years and our Pacific jet is stronger...FOR NOW.
We need to watch this.
@BretWaltsWx and myself will be discussing frequently in our Ag reports.
🌡️In late May, sea surface temperatures in the equatorial Pacific reached El Niño territory for the first time in more than two years. That's a major flip from March's La Niña regime.
The warming pace is tracking with other strong El Niño years. Will 2026 live up to forecasts?
New World screwworm is inching closer to our borders, with the latest reported case about 25 miles from Texas. NMPF is monitoring the situation and working closely with @USDA and other animal health officials to be prepared to spring to action if this pest does begin to affect livestock in the United States. Thank you to @SecRollins for sharing the latest developments. Get updates here:

The Great American Cotton Plan is about one thing: Putting American cotton first again.
Real “_____” wear cotton. 👖🌱
Americans. Cowboys. Farmers. Families. MAHA. Because cotton is real, natural, American-grown, and made by U.S. farmers.
Here’s the plan 👇
✅ Promote natural American-grown fibers over synthetic, plastic-based materials
✅ Expand domestic cotton manufacturing and textile production
✅ Increase export opportunities for U.S. cotton producers
✅ Strengthen support for cotton mills and processors
✅ Protect cotton growers from market volatility and adverse risk
✅ Modernize facilities and expand production capacity
✅ Support long-term profitability for America’s cotton farmers
This is about rebuilding an industry that supports jobs, rural communities, American manufacturing, and our agricultural future.
Plant, not plastic.

Large smoke plumes billow from several massive wildfires burning in New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma yesterday.
These and other recent fires in the region have collectively scorched tens of thousands of acres of land.
Southern Wyoming is shut down Monday by an intense blizzard that’s closed Interstate 80, took out power grids, and stranded motorists for hours. "Bloody apocalyptic" is how one trucker stuck for hours on I-80 described the situation.
