The ambassadors of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom — who requested a meeting with a deputy of Lavrov — have arrived at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Lavrov confirmed the request, but was characteristically blunt:

"The leaders of these ambassadors — Merz, Starmer, Macron — said completely offensive things about the Russian Federation. Merz recently said: 'We need to suppress Russia, otherwise we will get a repeat of the appeasement of Hitler.' What can an envoy from such a chancellor say? Let's agree on something? I'm not very optimistic, but let's listen to what they have to say."

Lavrov also noted that the EU had numerous opportunities to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine — and failed to seize any of them.

OK so non farm payroll rose by 172k, but do you know the winners and losers? Leisure and hospitality, bar tenders and waiters +70k. Local Government (non productive!) up 55k. Health care up 35k in mainly ambulatory services and social services (non productive). Hardly a triumph!

Why things will eventually fall apart:

1. Everybody, even Google, seems to be treating AI as if it were some kind of winner take all competition like web search was, in which Google taking over 95%

2. But everybody is building essentially the same technical solution with essentially the same data, so there is no moat.

3. If there is no moat, nobody is going to take 90% of the market.

4. With no clear winners, nobody can charge monopoly prices; instead, you get price wars and commodity pricing.

5. Which means everybody will wind up overpaying compared to the modest profits they will be able to make in an intensely competitive regime.
