🚧 A1307 Chaos Update
Highways have said that the advance warning signs showed the wrong dates due to an administrative error and have apologised for the confusion caused. All work is now completed.
I have been told the A1307 will be open as normal tomorrow.🤞
☕️ Is 50p really enough to change people’s behaviour?
Some support 1 hour free parking. Others have asked whether removing a 50p charge can really make any difference.

A special thank you to Will and everyone who made me feel so welcome.
#Haverhill is stronger because of people and organisations like this, whose kindness, dedication and community spirit make such a difference every single day.
🤝 Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting The Befriending Scheme at the old Chalkstone Community Centre in #Haverhill.
It was a genuinely uplifting visit. From the moment I arrived, it was clear this is far more than a community group. 🧵⬇️
@BefriendingSch
I also had a really positive conversation with Area Co-ordinator Will Ginno about the organisation’s future and potential grant funding opportunities.
I’m looking forward to seeing whether I can help the charity access funding to support its valuable work.
Today I’m attending the Suffolk Police & Crime Panel.
I’ll be scrutinising community engagement, the accessibility of information, decisions and progress on the proposed Haverhill Blue Lights Hub.

☕️ Friday Coffee & What on Earth Does Joe Get Up To?
It’s been one of those weeks: 4 speeches, 2 Full Council meetings, formal questions, Police & Crime Panel business and a mountain of resident casework.

Some schemes move forward.
Others prove undeliverable and need difficult decisions.
Either way, residents deserve honesty and transparency.
When I wrote my last article on Substack this afternoon, I really didn't know whether this news story was being made public today. I'll leave it for you to make up your mind as to whether this is suitable behaviour or not.
