100 years of football in Faraday Road gone up in smoke! Unfortunately this was inevitable with the premature closure of the ground over 3 years ago by @WestBerkshire and having consistently ignored offers of help to reopen for youth football from @group_newbury and @NewburyTC
It is devastating to see the burnt ruins of the Clubhouse at Newbury Football Ground but are are glad nobody has been hurt.
Sadly this was inevitable due to the deliberate actions of @WestBerkshire who failed to secure and protect the football ground, despite many warnings.
@BarryrLeesBRL@EdwardJDavey Do you have any evidence to back this up or have you just believed whatever Reform and other right wring propaganda your feed brings you?
I agree with @yairlapid. It's beyond time for an immediate bilateral ceasefire and I hope that Netanyahu and Hamas accept the deal that's on the table.
We need to stop the killing and release the hostages.
@group_newbury @WestBerkshire@LynneDoherty_ I was not shouting and there was only one set of people being condescending and intimidating and that was not the members of the public. How do you expect to encourage engagement when the leader, Cllrs Coles and MacKinnon treating public questions with such disdain.
@group_newbury Having just responded to another question on the culture at @WestBerkshire discouraging engagement of women in local politics, Council leader @LynneDoherty_ proceeds to deliver a condescending and arguably bullying riposte to another member of the public. Unbelievable🙄
@group_newbury @WestBerkshire@LynneDoherty_ Public Questions is deliberately designed to minimise engagement. Supplementaries are mostly not answered and any further comments from the questioners like mine and Mr Storey’s on Thursday are dismissed by a leader in a manner that could be perceived as bullying.
@fiberkshire Great to see the support. Shame @WBerksCons conspired to shut down football at Faraday Road 3 years ago and the proposed replacement ground will mean no Newbury men’s team could aspire to play at the levels of a Binfield or Thatcham!
@RossMackinnonWB@stuartgourley NTC strategy is to see a like for like or better replacement. I look forward to finally getting eyes on actual details on your Monks Lane plans (conveniently hidden behind part 2 up to now). Still astonishing how you can try to twist this to be NTC’s fault.
@RossMackinnonWB@stuartgourley It took you 3 years to draft that application leaving the buildings and site to run down and it’s NTC fault for opposing it!🙄 Oh, and I chose to ignore your unsubstantiated accusations. However I’d be more than happy to engage over a coffee to discuss ideas for moving forward.
@RossMackinnonWB@stuartgourley Not a single application has been submitted for either the LRIE regeneration or for Monks Lane so how you can say NTC has objected to both I don’t know. I see you didn’t deny you’ve refused to engage with the football community though.
