#chess enthusiasts, especially adult improvers, really get hung up on neuroplasticity.
A) According to research, adult brains have more plasticity than most chess folks seem to think. There's strong evidence emerging that most of the loss is environmental, not age-related.
I'm approaching my mid-50s, will always be a patzer, and want to have fun. And yet I still find myself feeling dirty playing gambits and less "sound" openings. Why? What's your philosophy, #ChessPunks? (other than "don't study openings" --- I'm not, really, and I get it :)
@peterdoggers I liked this idea by Cathy Clift: 'What about anyone who has at some point had an Elo of 2500+ *and* achieved a norm of 2600+ in the previous calendar year being a CGM (a Current Grand Master), with the others who no longer have the active 2600 norm being "merely" GM.'
Chess Players Wonder if Being a Grandmaster Still Has Meaning → https://t.co/nz5AfnAumD --- I don't think we need a Super GM title or the like. Cathy Clift has shown the way!
@notstevenwhite Yeah, I was thinking playable, but not classics that establish a broad foundation for a young player. Things like the Center Game, Smith-Morra, Vienna Gambit maybe? --- playable up to 2000 (and often higher), not the kind where there is a simple refutation to be memorized.
"Chess․com’s print publishing operations, comprising of New in Chess and Everyman Chess are splitting off from Chess․com and merging with Quality Chess..." — Kind of a big deal if you are one of those people (like me) who still loves #chess#books! → https://t.co/INq8Uv6Z6x

Do not tell anybody: this is the idea I implement to ThinkerSHARK to improve its calculation captures efficiency together with evaluation of the final position!🔥
At the same time half work is done with visualization!🧠

Congrats to 19-year-old Rakshitta Ravi on earning her 2nd IM norm in the Teplice Open! 🥳
She tied for 7th overall (as just the 70th seed!), and also gets back above 2300! 👏👏
