@DopeyMcdopeface@DutchRojas Nothing unusual here. The U.S. taxpayer has the dubious distinction of paying multiple times for what their taxes should have covered.
Double- and triple-dipping into our collective wallets is an all too frequent occurrence.
@RealJaySwizzle@jeremyct Government subsidized student loans are perhaps the single biggest reason behind tuition increases over the last 60 years.
Want lower tuition? Remove the government from the equation and let colleges make the loans and bear the risk.
Right. But:
Home prices have outpaced wages largely due to monetary policy driven by government spending. And if you're willing to make your home in large parts of the country where no sitcom has ever been set, they're still not bad.
Rent and tuition have multiplied because of government policies that have poured unearned money into rent and tuition.
So the question is, do you want to actually fix these things.
Or do you just want to double down on the policies that caused them?
@famexbt Regulations inflated everything, from homes to cars, 9 to 5 factory worker to independent contractor, any industry you can think of there are heavy regulations driving the price
@ptd223@famexbt Necessities don't require advertising to be purchased. Advertising necessities is a sign of underlying market distortion. Caveat emptor.
And your point? If socialism is what you're advocating for then all you are doing is demonstrating how historical illiterate you are.
These people will say, "Socialism just hasn't been done right", which is an idiotic statement. Do they actually want us to believe that people who are too lazy and incapable of figuring out how to get through college without incurring crushing debt will be capable of rejigging American society into their fantasy utopia and we should trust just trust these bafoons with our futures and livlihoods?
Please!!!
They vote for America destroying policies and when America gets predictably worse, their answer is more America destroying policies!
They want us to trust them with the future of our nation, when we already know what the outcome will be.
There is no way to "do Socialism right" because it fundamentally creates what it has historically ALWAYS CREATED, you fawking idiots!!!
Want your living standards to improve? Its simple, stop EMPOWERING Democrats who are destroying your society!
@molsjames@DrDiGiorgio ...are achieved at the very high expense of the end user.
The fallacious logic is everywhere in the economy one looks: EHRs, grocery store self checkout, self-serve gasoline, airline baggage fees/carry-ons, constant software updates, etc.
The capacity of the consumer.....
@DrDiGiorgio Software was a forerunner of what we see with AI: a rush to get to market without in depth end-user testing.
"It's good enough" and "we'll fix it later" mentality.
Neither were/are correct nor sufficient.
@mcuban How will what you propose lower the cost of healthcare? How will it reduce taxes and inflation? Shifting costs from one payer to another is a shell game; not a solution.
@relativemath@HEALTHCOSTtruth There's always a choice and an option. It may be more expensive because of the way the system is currently run. The fact is that the status quo doesn't have to be accepted and it can be changed. The status quo will resist any change. That's always the case and not be of concern.
@HEALTHCOSTtruth What you say makes sense. The rub is the worth of the service. Who decides that: the purchaser or service provider?
Does a true market exist that's arm's length between willing buyer and seller?
How does the purchaser know the price reflects the value/worth of the service?
@MahikRani50377 Never pay a tip on the amount with sales tax included.
What service did the state provide you for your meal? Why is the server keeping that additional amount?
No service. No tip.
@ElleZee6@DutchRojas When the bosses want something bad enough, unbudgeted money magically appears and the rules that apply for everyone else are bent/temporarily broken.
