I don’t know how we’re here already, but today is our last #NEPDEP dive day! Drum roll… we’re diving cold seeps! We’re offshore of Hesquiat Habour, over 1600 m of water, descending to flares & features.

Descending 3200+m into the dark for our deepest dive yet! We're heading to a NEPDEP 35, a "L1" class seamount (deepest class). This'll be the 1st time we're able to groundtruth this ecological classification. What are we going to find!? 🐙🦐🦀

We’re so excited to be diving Explorer Ridge hydrothermal vents today!!! We’re heading to the “active” (last-time-anyone-checked-in-2002) vent site “Recordbreaker” in the northern area of the field. 2 hr trip down to 1800 m depth, on bottom at ~10 am for 8 hrs.
