Here's my board 1st round big board compared to the actual picks from last night.
Players in green were drafter higher than I have them on my big board while players in red were drafter lower.
Players in blue I unfortunately didn't have the chance to study before the draft.
Here's my 1st round big board for the 2024 NBA Draft tonight. Excited to be bringing it back for the second year.
Reminder that this is not a mock draft. It's my ranking of the best available prospects.
Divisions in the NBA are each 5 teams, and I feel like there was missed opportunity here to make them count for something. Iโm glad they arenโt how teams qualify for the Playoffs like in the MLB or NFL, but I do think divisions for the group stage could breed rivalries.
@EamonCassels@NBA_University Iโm with you. So much recency bias with Jabari SL play and the report today about the Kings viewing Keegan as a franchise guy. Take this poll yesterday and Scottie runs away with it.
Rockets snag the 4th and 5th players on my big board. Obviously, I couldnโt predict the medical concerns that have come out for Cam Whitmore, but I do know that Houston is walking away with oodles of upside.
@WfromDeBall Because the Thompson twins are special athletes, people are overlooking how explosive Cam is. Has a much more polished jumper and the ability to flow from quick crossovers to pull ups. Impressive defender and force pressuring the rim. He lacks playmaking feel, but heโs so young.
Happy #NBADraft day to all who celebrate!
Psyched to finally drop my big board for the full first round. Had a ton of fun building this out after watching many hours of film, and I've already learned a ton in what I hope will be my first year doing this of many.
Thoughts?
Probably my two hottest takes on here are having Cam Whitmore and Kobe Bufkin as high as they are.
Iโm also bullish on Leonard Miller and Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
Podziemski didnโt make my board, plus I have Black, Jaime, and Keynote low.
Anything else stand out?
Please note that this is a big board, not a mock draft, meaning that this is how I rank these players as prospects. All of the articles itโs compared to besides The Ringer are instead predictions of how todayโs draft will go.
I think itโs so awesome that a Jokic team just won the close out game of the NBA Finals with their defense. The Joker might not be a traditional rim protector, but he has positioned himself well on that end all postseason. What is there left for the haters to say?
Turned off Knicks-Mavericks with 9 point lead and 33 seconds to go. Cannot believe that ending and cannot wait to watch it back tomorrow. How does that happen? More baffled as an NBA fan than upset as a Knicks fan.
@NBA_University Davion Mitchell, Harrison Barnes, Saddiq Bey, RJ Barrett, and Keldon Johnson are all average to good defenders in my head. Goes to show that weโre too quick as fans to categorize wings as โ3 and D.โ Davion is the exception in terms of his height/position, but heโs โOff Night.โ
Three different wrinkles on a ram screen play amongst the Bucks' big three here. Had it not been for a miscommunication between Jrue and Brook on the last option, it would have worked on back-to-back-to-back possessions.
