Ep. 22 | Free The Money | The Fight for Digital Integrity with Alexis Roussel

In this episode, I sit down with privacy activist @alexis_roussel who is the co-founder and COO of @nym Technologies to explore one of the most important ideas of our time: the right to digital integrity. Alexis argues that in a world where our lives are increasingly online, personal data should not be treated as a commodity to be collected, bought, and sold—but as an extension of the individual. Drawing from his background in law, the United Nations, and digital rights advocacy, he explains why protecting human rights in the digital age requires a fundamental shift in how we think about data ownership and privacy.

We dive into how governments around the world are tightening control over the internet, from shutdowns in Iran to deep packet inspection, black-box surveillance systems, and forced apps in Russia—and why even EU regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation may be “broken by design.” Alexis makes the case that once data is treated as something that can be collected it opens the door to exploitation.
