Kevin González is only 18. He is suffering from stage 4 colon cancer and has days to live. He’s desperate to spend his last moments with his parents, but ICE detained his mom and dad after they tried to seek humanitarian asylum.
This is the total cruelty of Trump’s mass deportation machine. I'm asking for Kevin’s parents to be released immediately so that they can be with their son. https://t.co/iHU5ngZ5Bt
@DAZNBoxing Bud Crawford was amazing tonight.
But also, I love that this poster had to specify "male boxer" because Amanda Serrano holds nine world titles across seven weight divisions
I hate doing this. I only @ companies in public when I have genuinely tried (and failed) to get help thru the usual customer service channels. So, @CollectiveFin—it's been months that I've been trying to get a response on finishing my business tax return. How can we resolve this?
Through struggle and discipline, persistence and faith, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. helped move this country forward. As we honor his legacy today, let’s remember the lesson he taught us: that even in the face of impossible odds, people who love this country can help change it. In honor of #MLKDay, I hope you’ll do what you can in your community to create a better future for us all.
Don't let what you see on social media skew your view of humanity.
Most bad behavior is due to a few bad apples:
• Just 3% of active users are toxic, but they generate 33% of online content
• 1% of communities launch 74% of conflict
• 0.1% of users spread 80% of fake news

Worth mentioning how much old school martial artists decry the devolution of martial arts into competitive sports.
Also, making friends is sometimes a first, necessary step to becoming a better person who's meeting her full potential. I'm just happy people are exercising.
Interesting though IMO superficial take. Reminds me of a post from Mark Andreesen about the value of doing martial arts being self defense. 🫤
Both views miss the possibility of physical pursuits as disciplines to develop oneself in character and spirit.
The Great Athletic Softening
The collective obsession with community-building, self-care, social validation, and a growing quest to make everyone happy all the time is ruining sports.
Over the last few years adults have increasingly turned sports and athletics into a participation parade. We've created a bizarre parallel universe where everyone's an athlete, but nobody's competing.
Observations on modern run clubs, amateur adult athletics, and a broader cultural shift away from the mechanism that has historically driven human achievement and progress: competition.

Nobel Laureate Jennifer Doudna, a graduate of Hilo High School on the Big Island of Hawai'i and the inventor of CRISPR, in the news again. This time not for a medical breakthrough but a potentially climate-saving one! #HawaiiTech https://t.co/ZQdXMdFXqR
“Over the weeks, months, and then years of training in Kendo, it would become deeply ingrained in me to face conflict and challenges this way: head on and belly button forward.” — @Cmoon#DailyDharma https://t.co/iz7Tyrd1cI
Last night, finished @cmoon's memoir of life at an O'ahu dojo that hones intense self-act(ualizat)ion via arts martial & courtly.
Rare the read with such insight on zen's diverse ideas/ways; on Hawai'i's unique culture; and about a friend herself. #brava

"A memoir is not merely the record of a transformation, but the device for one, and the blank page symbolizes its great hope and wager."
Perfect. 🙏🏼 @parul_sehgal
One of my favorite things about criticism (reading it, writing it) is how it can enable coolness and clarity of thought. Began this review feeling surly at state of memoir/the career memoirist's shtick, finished it feeling something else entirely https://t.co/vwRirWCGKF
