Jamie Pollard’s Iowa State tenure by the numbers (all were compiled in the final chapter of my book):
Media/licensing: $7.88M in 2005 → $43.68M in 2024
Athletics budget: $28.2M in 2005 → $141.1M approved for 2026
Ticket revenue: $9.12M in 2005 → $23.37M in 2024
Football season tickets: 22,000 → 45,000
Athletics employees: 50 → 250
That growth also showed up physically, with major facility upgrades across campus, including the long-discussed transformation of Jack Trice Stadium’s south end zone.
No athletics director does that alone. Conference revenue, coaches, donors, alumni growth and fan support all matter.
But leadership and stability matter, too.
By any fair measure, Pollard’s tenure was the most consequential in Iowa State athletics history.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Coach Jim Walden. Coach loved Ames and he loved Iowa State while pouring everything he had into the Cyclone program. He was a great man that enjoyed a good time as all who worked for him or played for him would attest.
COMMIT: For the second time in the 2027 cycle, Iowa State has flipped a WR from a Power Conference school. Chuck Alexander flips from Louisville to Iowa State: https://t.co/NPiSplIoa1
