@NewEmergingKing Mr Rogers for modern times. Good lessons for us all. Thank you for all the great work and the students for investing in their character and safety.
Remember that you are necessary. You were made for so much more than you think.
Take on the mind of God, embrace His heart & fill the world around you with love & light.
Be an answer to prayers.

Why does doing good work in your community automatically mean you should run for office?
Every good coach doesn’t need to be a commissioner. Every mentor doesn’t need to be a mayor. Every community leader doesn’t need their name on a ballot.
Public office is one way to serve. It’s not the only way.
Sometimes we become so focused on who we can elect to fix our communities that we forget the responsibility we have to help fix them ourselves.
Vote. Hold leaders accountable. Work with them.
But then come home and do your part too.
Why is it “sad” to see a child LEARNING?
Some of the comments on our videos say it’s sad that I have to teach these boys certain things.
I don’t understand that.
You weren’t born knowing how to pay bills, fix things, communicate, grocery shop, handle emergencies, or navigate life. Somebody taught you. And I guarantee everything you know didn’t come from your mama and daddy.
That’s the whole point of a village.
These boys have parents who love them and teach them. My own children learn from people besides me too. More good adults pouring into a child is a blessing, not evidence that somebody failed.
Instead of being sad that they didn’t know something, be happy somebody cared enough to teach them.
Remember when I sued you in both state and federal court to open the beaches of Orange County that you maliciously closed, and you lifted the order so as to moot our cases before the hearings? You knew it back then too, Governor.
@ofcrdeonjoseph Parenthood is a great series with a great cast. Excellent family series set in CA. Craig T Nelson, Ray Romano and other great actors. The music and storylines are funny, realistic and sweet.
As school starts across America, reading scores just hit their lowest point in 25 years.
We know two things: doing more of the same will produce the same results: near failure — and parents have lost confidence in their children’s schools.
We built this country on the idea that failure is not an option, but on education, elected leaders in both parties have accepted failure as the path of least resistance. That’s not true for their own kids and should not be true for yours.
It is time for a change.

When I was thirteen, my best friend died and I reacted in myriad unhealthy ways, so my parents took me to a psychiatrist and I was disgnosed with depression and prescribed Zoloft, an anti-depressant.
But I wasn’t clinically depressed; I was sad, and I had a good reason to be.
So, I think a good thing for a lot of young people to hear is that being sad is okay because sometimes life sucks, but that doesn’t mean you’re depressed or something is wrong with you. Your emotions might just be working the way they’re supposed to.
A transformed life multiplies. The effectiveness of "moral authority" can be found in these #DC men: once gang members, now transforming the lives of young people in their own neighborhoods. We have to seek unlikely vessels of community uplift.
If you struggle with discipline, read Discipline is Destiny by Ryan Holiday.
The book provides a deep understanding that self-discipline is not something that just happens to us; it is something we cultivate.

@drantbradley They stand on the street outside the middle school here. Only once per year and hand out a book of psalms and proverbs. The Gideons. Not part of the school day but they are there every year.
Something I realized when I became a parent is there's a window of time when your parents are healthy, your kids are little, and everyone gets to experience multiple generations of family spending time together. Cherish this time and don’t take a single moment of it for granted.

I sat down with Herb Morgan, who spent decades working for Wall Street firms and is now running to be California's State Controller.
