This was a great activity I learned from @gagaballxp recently - Sonic’s Rings! Always aim for the furthest hoop and steal from another team if successful! Students loved it!

Wide 1v1s: The Hidden Lever in Breaking Defensive Structures
Over 40% of successful dribbles at the top level occur in wide channels — and a significant number of high-value chances start with one action: a winger eliminating their direct opponent.
Win the 1v1, and the defensive line shifts. Cover arrives. Gaps open centrally. One decisive duel can destabilize an entire structure.
As coaches, that should challenge us.
💬 Reflection:
Are we deliberately building the technical detail, tactical understanding, and psychological confidence required to consistently dominate wide 1v1s — through purposeful design and repetition?
Or are we leaving these game-defining moments to talent and instinct on match day?

@KingKnightEd Press and cover, drilled into me on so many coaching courses. If right back is pressing, centre back should offer cover, not 25 yard gap.
@MyFootballCoach@CoachingFamily could be either, the kids I work with will not be able to do a step over or step over turn yet, can do a drag back so raw grassroots players 🙂 thank you
Nick Saban on how to get the most out of your practices.
He talks to his staff about meeting with the team to explain the drills they will be doing in practice.
Great stuff here.
@JPR_25 If they can run around at lunchtime in school uniform why can’t they run around wearing school uniform for PE. At least 15 mins more sport every lesson. Less teacher focus on learning objectives more focus on ensuring kids love physical activity so they stay hooked for life.
