The recruitment process has been kind of painful for me. I’m not good at “selling” myself or my game. It’s hard posting videos and sending emails without feeling like I’m bragging or begging to be noticed! I feel like my game, my grit, skill and my work ethic should speak for themselves but I know that’s not how it works. I’m a player who just plays hard, competes at 110% all the time and likes to work to be the best. I have found myself frustrated seeing players and teammates stressed, crying, defeated and losing the love of the game over recruitment. I’m sad how I’ve let it impact my love for the game. Does that mean playing at the next level isn’t for me? Can anyone else relate?

I’m a 2027. I am a multi sport athlete who has played travel volleyball and softball since 9 years old. I work hard in the classroom and have a 3.85 GPA with all honors and dual credit classes. I know what I have to offer and to all my fellow athletes, YOU SHOULD TOO!

Being a 2027 uncommitted, multi sport athlete with the new 5 for 5 rule has added a layer of pressure I’m working through. I’m constantly juggling if I’m sacrificing my recruitment opportunities because I’m committed to my “in season” sport. Realizing that playing in college might not be in the stars for me is a difficult pill to swallow.

I am choosing to focus on enjoying my “lasts” as a senior and being the best captain, mentor, student, intern, player, friend, daughter and big sister I can be, on and off the field. It’s not always easy when the plan you’ve always had isn’t playing out how you thought. I choose to trust that God’s plan is best and it will all work out how it should. It’s not always easy, but I’m trying!

I feel for my 2027 girls who aren’t yet committed and I’m feeling for the 2028s who are already feeling down and it’s only September 2nd. I see you. I feel you. I’m cheering for you.

I’m trying to remember that we won’t get these times back and to just enjoy the ride. 2027s, we’ve got this. 💪🏽Have fun. Stay humble. Keep working.
