@nckhui People also don’t realize those 15-25 year teachers were there during the 7 year hiring/pay freeze. I worked my first 7 years of teaching on a step 0 and now am in my 15th year. I didn’t see 40k until my 8th year.
When donald trump ran in 2016, he promised he would protect people with preexisting conditions.
He didn’t.
That he would lower middle class taxes.
He didn’t.
That he would pass an infrastructure bill.
He didn’t.
That he would repeal & replace Obamacare.
He didn’t.
That he would bring back coal & American manufacturing.
He didn’t.
That he’d cut the deficit.
He didn’t, he increased it.
That he would build his wall & make Mexico pay for it.
He didn’t & they didn’t.
He didn’t deliver on any of that.
And yet despite a record like that, despite losing reelection, plotting a coup, inciting an insurrection & stealing nuclear secrets, he’s the Republican party’s front runner for 2024.
So my question is - why?
The real learning loss from the pandemic was social and emotional skills. Such as learning to share, take turns, negotiate, & resolve conflicts through play as well as self-regulation & impulse control. Students need unstructured play, recess, & physical activity more than ever.
Just because some teachers would rather stay in the classroom than go into administration doesn’t mean they aren’t leaders. Many have amazing talents which can benefit a school. Good leaders value them as experts and help maximize their talents for betterment of school & students
Wow: Tennessee state Rep. Justin Jones, one of the Dems that the GOP is trying to expel from state legislature to protesting gun violence, calls out his colleagues on the floor
‘For years, one of your colleagues, an admitted child molester, sat in this chamber – no expulsion’
Dawn Staley shared her thoughts on the media's coverage of South Carolina:
"We're not bar fighters. We're not thugs. We're not monkeys. We're not street fighters. ... So watch what you say when you're in public and you're talking about my team in particular."
Every child deserves a teacher who cares about them. Every child also deserves a teacher who is supported, appreciated, and treated like a professional.
Teachers, your students may not remember everything about your class, but they will remember that you cared, showed grace, made them feel valued, and encouraged them to be their best. They will remember that forever.
DISTRICTS: Teachers and School Staff,
We know how much stress you are under, and how close you are to breaking down. Your physical and mental health are our priority. Please focus on self-care and take care of yourself.
ALSO, DISTRICTS:
If we treated teachers with respect, valued them, paid them well, and supported them properly, attrition would be almost nonexistent! And our college of education programs would be packed!
