WATCH: WVU HC Rich Rodriguez talk about how society and athletes these days are “softer” than when he first started coaching. He talked about pulling weeds as a kid and how kids have it easy these days. Some good stuff.
“They live in a fantasy world.”

"Champions do daily what everybody else does occasionally. You are not extraordinary. You just do the ordinary-extra. That's what separates you."
Master the mundane.
The difference isn't in being extraordinary—it's in doing the ordinary things with extraordinary consistency.

🔥Every coach should watch this!
‼️This is championship mentality in practice.
⁉️Are you “living and dying by that moment in practice,” or are you just getting a rep?
🔑Make it matter in practice by creating pressure through intense competition.
Even people who know and love E+R=O don’t always use it correctly:
“The first thing to evaluate is not the event you have, but the outcome you want.
Do not be defined by your circumstances. Be defined by your pursuit.
Second, after you’ve identified the outcome you want, is then to ask, ‘Ok, what circumstances do I have?’
Because you need to work from where you are and see it with clear eyes.
Clarifying the event you’re dealing with is ‘realism’. Clarifying the outcome you want is ‘optimism’.
And finally, given the outcome you want and the event you have, what response do you need in order to create that outcome given the circumstances that you’re in?
It’s the nature of life.”

MUST have availability early mornings and game days!
If you can’t do it with intensity/focus in practice, then you aren’t gonna be able to do it in a game. You over exaggerate in practice because there’s always slippage in a game. As the Navy SEALs always say: you don’t rise to the occasion; you sink to the level of your training!
