@_ToddBeane@CBSSportsGolazo Conscious bias. Most coaches will teach what they see on TV from games, instead of challenging the norm. Same reason there was a flip from traditional wingers to inverted.

Creating clearer pictures for players, in simple yet effective ways which reflects what is happening within the game, and moment.
This moment led to a goal with prior information 2-mins earlier being successfully executed.
Training coming to the surface, finding the furthest option forward, out of pressure after a win of possession. Supporting movement, ahead of the ball, and attacking spaces behind the opponents last line!
Constantly in search of way to make words, become visual, for visuals to become actions. Put some focus on how defending in ‘Zones’ especially when you’re looking into game management or protecting a lead can be fruitful! ⚽️
Imo, the game, whatever you call it, football/soccer/futbol has been obsessed with the creation of BPCB, Inverted FBs, CDMs that we have lost the striker, the forward, the finisher.
As a kid, I was obsessed with recreating goals from MOTD, and during the game, where is that now?
A continued approach to individual player actions, and how that shapes our team principles we believe to be true, keep coming to fruition and the more this is encouraged the more it looks like the game.

This creates a back 3. Let me know if that’s what you’re thinking.
@Leecosgrove10 Had the same conversation with a parent on one of my teams yesterday too. My opinion is that formations are references to what we can/do out of possession.
