@Mike_Jagacki Then post up some SSGs with defense as the emphasis so we can see them. You can do both at the same time but sometimes having guided defense to scale the learning is needed.
Another great explanation of how you use the CLA Coach Love! Games are a tool in the CLA and definitely should be used when creating learning environments for the athletes. It seems many Coaches want to label it a certain way because it feels familiar.
Should you be coaching with the CLA?
Yes.
And you probably already do, without realizing it.
But here is the flip side...
Should you only be using, or limiting yourself to, the CLA when teaching shooting?
Absolutely not.
Let's dive into it...
Maybe it's just my feed, but I believe the CLA, Ecological Dynamics and Skill Acquisition is being portrayed too narrowly, especially around basketball shooting.
This is what I've learned in my 1st year of a Master's in Skill Acquisition, working in the NBA at the same time.
@AdamFinkelstein@BpenfieldJ Great memory Adam! Never met him personally but I know many that have crossed paths with him over the years and your story sounds familiar. Thank you @CoachTomMoore for all you have given to UConn!
Are you saying spacing doesn’t matter? Even if they didn’t have a 3pt line in 1983, which they did, the strict M2M rules helped create SPACE. That is why there was so much isolation. Is this a parody account?
I get so tired of people that claim they know basketball using the word space. In 1983 there were 20 NBA teams averaged over 100 points per game without a three-point line and no space. Yet little guards and big Guards scored at the rim.
@4khudson@transformbball@BBallImmersion@colemanayers31 Coleman does a good job making it digestible for me. Eco dynamics, CLA, etc speak to me as a coach. It just makes sense. My issue is I don’t coach enough and have complete control over practices to apply it and become a better practitioner of it.
@TweetsbyCoachP 1. Fun
2. More “playing” with actual “defenders” around. Playing doesn’t necessarily mean actual basketball game.
3. Not sure if this fits but correct size balls and hoops for age and stage.
@UConnFHockey Great job by the team today! They were dominant in the second half. Many of the calls were not on their side today. Glad they still made the tournament. Go Huskies!
