@TewksHitting B, at least for the youth & HS players I’ve coached. Catching it out front is an easy contact point adjustment for hitters with good adjustability; but the ones who want to mash everything out front have had a tougher time learning to drive a ball on the outer third.
This is a travesty. For my #mlbtheshow22 franchise team’s 2023 season, he has hit 30 dingers and has over 70 RBIs with 3 weeks of the season left, all while never seeing a PA against lefty pitching.
I've been in baseball since I was 5 and I have never tried dip.
Don't feel pressured to try it.
Teammates that give you sh*t or call you names for not trying aren't good people. You won't be friends with them. Don't worry about them.
@peteonpleasant@JWonCATCHING Working up to the catch from below the ball =/= moving the glove after the catch to try to “frame” the pitch and fool the umpire
Saw him pitch for the @IowaCubs earlier this month. Gave up two solo homers, but otherwise dominated. 8 Ks and only 1 BB in 5.1 innings. FB 94-96 throughout, lots of awkward swings induced with the cutter.
If you can’t tell, I’m really delighted for Javier, who has been a fave this yr and I’ve heard is an upbeat joy of a teammate. This is when minor lg baseball is so beautiful: with hard work, Javier went from a guy stalling at AA (and a free agent to be) to a big lg SP. In a year.
When exiting an elevator at a hotel in Denver, I accidentally chest-bumped Randall Simon about one week after he assaulted the bratwurst during the Miller Park sausage race.
Quick stop into @DugoutSportsF in Fairfax today. Spotting fastballs on both sides of the plate…
Stay tuned for a couple of baseball adventures coming up. ⚾️
If you've had a baseball or softball lesson in the Des Moines area, there's a good chance it came from Jim Hallman of Grand Slam USA. @TommyBirch takes a look at what keeps the 59-year-old going even after a bout with throat cancer. https://t.co/v3UvtrWNBZ
A wiser fella than myself once said, “Sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes, well, he eats you.”
We’ll be back.

Tornadoes win the Tornado Invite by topping #9 Woodbury Central 8-7 in a good ball game. Varsity improves their record to 10-3. We are off until Monday when we head to Western Christian. #GoBigGreen
The athlete of #week2 goes to Cole Mcatee. Came in all week and out-worked others. Cole definitely led by example and showed others what the new standard is!
Tornadoes pick up two hard fought wins in Webster City tonight defeating the Lynx in the JV game 4-3 and in the varsity game 9-7. At home with Spencer tomorrow. #GoBigGreen
In honor of his 3,000th hit, sharing what will always be my favorite @MiguelCabrera moment. No chirping, no charging the mound, no complaints. Somebody disses you? Just beat ‘em on the diamond. Winning is the best clapback. https://t.co/byDaYRrrzY
