The issue isn't profit in the US, it's that most other nations negotiate against companies.

This is Economic Statecraft.

A company cannot really negotiate against a country.

As a result Americans fund all innovation and R&D.

Then the rest of the world benefits.

I agree it's a raw deal for Americans. Which is why we should work on getting other countries to pay their fair share.
