You can see what water means when you meet the people waiting for it.

On site at Miidi Water Pan in Bura, Tana River Director Bibi Masha witnessed firsthand the excitement and hope of a community seeing a lasting solution to their water needs take shape.

As the region looks ahead to the expected El Niño rains, the 100,000m3 water pan is designed to capture and store the rain, bringing relief to households in the area and their livestock.

For the community, it is more than a water pan. It is the joy of knowing that when the rains come, every drop will count.

⚽ Mjanaheri Soccer for HIV/AIDS Awareness Cup!
We are excited to invite you this Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September 2026 to Mjanaheri Primary School (Roadside) for an impactful weekend bringing together teams from Mjanaheri, Ngomeni, Garite and surrounding local areas for thrilling football matches and community health sensitization!

In addition to the tournament, activities will include free HIV Counseling and Testing (HTC) services, player group discussions, expert health presentations, a raffle quiz with prizes and live MC commentary sharing on HIV/AIDs awareness.

Come support our youth, engage with experts and know your status!
This initiative is implemented by Coast Development Authority in collaboration with @Samba4Youth under the Malindi Social & Health Development Programme II, funded by the @AICS_Nairobi.

Strengthening Partnerships for Regional Growth!
Today, Kishushe Ranching Cooperative Society Limited (KRCSL) paid a courtesy visit to the Coast Development Authority and presented the Mzima–KRCSL–Kengecha Integrated Water Supply Project to the CDA Ag. Managing Director Dr. Mwanasiti Bendera, alongside the Authority’s management and technical team.

Led by Board Chair Ms. Matilda Waleghwa, the delegation held discussions on the project’s potential to strengthen water access for more than 20,000 residents, schools, health facilities and livestock, while supporting regulated water supply for economic activities.

The project includes a 6.5–8 km transfer main and two 500m³ storage reservoirs at Kengecha Hill. It also seeks to establish controlled water access points that can help reduce pressure around Tsavo West National Park and minimise human-wildlife conflict.

Dr. Mwanasiti Bendera said: “Partnering to unlock key regional development opportunities is essential for direct socio-economic impact. Water is life, health and dignity—by investing in sustainable water infrastructure and shared governance, we lay the groundwork for a healthier, more prosperous future.”

The engagement marks an important step towards multi-agency collaboration in advancing sustainable water infrastructure and regional development in Taita Taveta County.

The journey has had its challenges, but the project remains on track.Mjanaheri Ngomeni Road Project.

Engineer Collins Omondi, the site Agent who oversees the planning and implementation of the Mjanaheri–Ngomeni Road, speaks about the challenges faced since the project began, including weather disruptions and the Middle East crisis, which affected fuel, bitumen and other construction materials, leading to time and cost pressures.

Despite the setbacks, the team remains focused on delivering the project on time and to the required standards.

CDA Ag. Md Dr. Mwanasiti Bendera received a courtesy call from Mr. Omar Abdalla from the Light Academy School Mombasa, who delivered a request for job-shadowing opportunities for the school’s pre-candidate students at CDA.

The proposed programme will give students an opportunity to visit CDA, interact with staff and learn about the Authority’s different programmes, projects and areas of work. The school says the one- to two-week exposure is intended to complement classroom learning with practical experience and help students better understand professional environments.

Early exposure can help them understand the world of work, identify their interests and make more informed choices about the courses and careers they pursue after school. When we give young people space to discover their talents, we are also helping shape who they become.”

The partnership will give the students an early look at where their learning can take them and a chance to begin connecting their talents with the outside world.
