Just a reminder, when you see an officer conducting a traffic stop on the side of the road, move over when it’s safe to do so.
If you can’t safely move over, slow down and be prepared to stop.
A little extra space helps keep everyone safe.

@lcj2137 Cobb County does not have a mayor. Our officers enforce state and local laws within our jurisdiction. Enforcement decisions are based on the circumstances of each incident, applicable law and officer discretion, not a mayoral administration.
@mdv21277 That’s a good question! We don’t have that number handy, but with officers patrolling across the county 24/7, our vehicles definitely stay busy. We’ll have to check with our Fleet Management team for that one.
@baxter1265 Great question! Our patrol areas are divided into precincts, zones and beats. Officers are assigned to a beat for their shift, but those assignments can change based on staffing and call volume. So, your neighborhood doesn’t necessarily have the same officer every day.
@TheBaconGuy East-West Conn. crosses multiple jurisdictions. Depending on the location, it may fall within CCPD Precinct 2, Precinct 3 or the City of Smyrna. If you witness dangerous driving or an ongoing traffic violation, please contact the appropriate jurisdiction to report it.
@threeshavvv Good question! When we aren’t responding to calls, we’re usually in our beats conducting traffic stops, proactive patrols, completing reports or following up on incidents. We return to the precinct when needed, but most of our shift is spent out in the community.
Traffic Question: Under GA law, how much distance are you required to leave between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead?
A. One car length for every 10 mph
B. At least 3 seconds
C. At least 50 ft
D. A reasonable and prudent distance for traffic conditions
What’s your answer?
