This thread is a precis of a report by Harry Davies in the @Guardian last Wednesday. I don’t have any special knowledge about this, I’m just appalled at the utter shambles it presents.

On 6 April 2020—during the pandemic—the management contract for the UK’s emergency stockpile of PPE (52,000 pallets) was sold to a French group. This was just the latest step in a fiasco described in a 2020 Guardian article by @harryfoxdavies#r4today

6 years on from the tragedy at Grenfell, we remember the victims, fight for justice for their families, and continue to call for action for the thousands of residents in Salford and across the country still living in unsafe buildings.
A report by @BBCNews on @BBCRadio4 just now reinforced the fallacy that soya grown for plant-based products is the cause of deforestation. The fact is that it is soya for animal feed which is by far the main cause. Don’t blame vegans for deforestation😡
Listening to @MikeBernersLee and @bbcpaddy on #bh just now reminded me of this scene from the show Utopia… private jets are one thing, dogs another, but…

Jacob Really-Smug let off the hook there by @sarah_monague. The point she missed is that Braverman attempted to use public servants in a personal matter; the matter of private speed awareness courses is a red herring #wato
Also, this looks like a very modern #BlendedFamily; that’s a greylag goose on the left, a canada goose on the right. I have no idea which the goslings belong to, maybe both!
Here’s a lovely example why #NoMowMay is a good thing: goslings grazing the grass among the flats on Dulwich Road. Well done @Lambeth_Council for supporting nature (probably saves some money too eh, but for the right reasons)

This is very clear and informative about chatbots. @MichaelRosenYes discusses computational linguistics with professor @emilymbender. Well worth a listen.

Sad news that Gaby Elyahou died on Sunday, nearly five years after his deli finally closed. His customers will miss his felafel & salt beef, his signed posters & photos, his welcome and warm words. Wishing long life to his family.
