I have read and re-read this post a dozen times and each time I well up.
I miss Khartoum.
My heart still breaks for Sudan and the Sudanese people every. single. day.

This message was on one of the walls of Khartoum and wrote on it :
" My friends, the war has been long and the distances have increased. All I miss is seeing you. I don't know when or how we will meet again. I have so many stories I want to tell you. Take care of yourselves until we meet again "

Blockbuster report on widening UAE support for the genocidal RSF militia in Sudan.
Also confirms what @RefugeesIntl has called out for a year: UAE is using Red Crescent (@emiratesrc) as humanitarian cover for military ops.
As UNGA convenes in NYC, this demands urgent action.🧵
I’ve just returned from a rare reporting trip to #Sudan, once of the most difficult places in the world for journalists to access right now. The situation on the ground is so much worse and more complex then the rhetoric surrounding today’s US-run talks in Geneva would suggest.
I keep thinking how 3 little girls were killed & more were hurt & traumatised, & instead of talking about their precious lives, we are being forced to focus on violent entitled white men burning cars & towns, who don’t give a shit about women’s & girls’ safety.
I have many criticisms of Sunak and the Conservatives but we should all reflect that they have shown no hesitation in accepting the will of the people nor any hint of questioning its legitimacy. Citizens of other nations look on enviously.

The UN Security Council has adopted a UK-drafted resolution calling for an immediate end to the devastating violence in and around El Fasher, Sudan.
The fighting must stop now.
Parties must let in urgent humanitarian aid to prevent a famine.
This morning on Newsday @bbcworldservice we heard about people in the Nuba mountains eating leaves to survive; or walking 8-10 hours to find doum palm nuts to eat. All over #Sudan people are desperately trying to ward off starvation. #KeepEyesOnSudan
In Sudan, if nothing changes, it is projected that 2.5 million people could die by September.
Yet the international community has funded less than 15% of the aid needed.
