@mrpwt@PhilipSoos Actually the Greens are worried about being associated with "right wingers" if they support limits on immigration. And social justice concerns. These seem to trump environmental issues and housing shortages.
@Peter_Strachan@SustPopAus I don’t have contra information and I tend to believe the stated conclusions. But “wanting it to be true” is not enough. I want to know how they have made their conclusions.
@SustPopAus@Peter_Strachan It is misleading to say this was a recent study. And how do we even get to the “message” when the article doesn’t cite the study! Can someone point me to the study?
If you want to be taken seriously you can’t quote rubbish.
@ylecun PaLM 2 having 340 billion parameters with only 2 billion token training set? That doesn't make a lot of sense either. It would make even more sense to say PaLM 2 is trained on on 3.6 trillion tokens.

@123aNegativa@Peter_Strachan@Greens Well I’m a Greens voter and member who is firmly in support of reducing our immigration numbers… the vibe I get from others seems to be that we should be helping people and that it is cruel to lock people out. I don’t buy that but the feeling is strong.
Even the Institute of Public Affairs says Australia’s high rate of population growth - due to immigration - is causing increases in rent and property prices.
It is time to pump the brakes and for @Greens to jump on board with this.
@guywhoiswoke We don't know was discussed -- how do we know that everyone except the trans teenager had the 'incorrect information'? And how do we know what they were saying was 'anti trans'?
@ABCmediawatch It was just a few weeks ago that people went off at SMH for not disclosing that the "typical landlord" here was actually on the Australian Landlords Association committee. Same deal. I'm with Media Watch on this one.

"...more than 80 per cent of the rental market owned by mum and dad investors..." says article. But elsewhere: "...over half of rental properties are owned by landlords with at least 2.6 rental properties - in addition to their own homes"
Cannot say this enough: there is a one in two chance your landlord owns multiple properties in addition to their own house. Quick summary in the @guardian liveblog:
@wellspringarts1 @MFWitches I think I get the tree climbing/playground thing.
I'm not sure if I would be able to resist my instincts to say 'pull your dress down' when my daughter decides to purposefully lift up her dress when out in public though.
