I’m genuinely a little sad that Codex stops working the moment I hit the usage limit.
It used to just keep going until the task was finished.
Really miss the old Codex 😭
Meet Mistral Large 4, aka Le Chonk.
• 1T parameters, natively multimodal. 49B active.
It is the best open weights model from US or Europe on aggregated benchmarks.
• State-of-the-art on critical workloads, including cyber defense, manufacturing and finance and it surpasses closed frontier models on visual grounding.
• Forged in Europe end-to-end and is deployable from Europe via our own Mistral Cloud infrastructure.
• Available to all via API today. Working with cybersecurity partners privately.
Open weights release end of October.
My boss sent me a Markdown file from his discussion with AI and asked me to implement it using AI.
At this point, I’m basically the human API between two AIs 😂
I chat with GPT-5.6 Sol a lot, and I’ve noticed it uses the word “unusually” unusually often.
Which is funny because I barely hear actual people use that word.
But now I can’t stop noticing it 👀
Okay, I think I understand OpenRouter's moat now.
The routing code isn't the moat. Stripe could build that.
OpenRouter has millions of developers generating enormous inference demand. That attracts more providers. More providers mean better availability, pricing, and routing which attracts more developers.
And all that traffic gives them data to make the routing itself better.
It's a flywheel: developers → traffic → providers → better routing → developers
The API can be cloned. The marketplace can't.
I still can't get over the fact that OpenRouter was reportedly acquired by Stripe for $7.5B. It sounds almost too simple: A user sends an AI request → OpenRouter routes it to an AI provider.
I could probably build a basic version of that. And with Stripe's engineering talent, they could probably build an OpenRouter clone in a week.
So there must be a hell of a moat here. I'm going down the rabbit hole to find out.
