The bar for junior developers will continue to rise.

A junior developer can still need mentorship, but they must be able to build software. Companies are not looking to pay someone a strong salary just to complete small tasks while being handheld through everything else.

This is also why companies keep defaulting to “senior” candidates. Experience is an easy signal that someone has already shipped real software.

@maxedapps It really is, now with the models and harnesses available. But again, tech is always a first mover. Most people I know are not using AI daily

@simonw The best “loops” I use now, and it’s mostly for UI, is an iteration between an implementation and QA agent to make sure the design is pixel perfect. The top frontier models still seem to miss this at times.
