What do I notice about these professional athletes training?
1) The exercise selection is insanely simple.
2) Their intent in their training is insanely high.
Not everyone can be a professional athlete.
But everyone can relatively train like one.
Keep it simple but train with MEAN INTENT!
JUST IN: The ongoing geomagnetic storm has been upgraded to level 5 out of 5, or "extreme," making it the first G5-level storm since 2003.
Scientists are warning of potential disruptions to communications over the weekend.
GPS, spacecraft and satellite navigation may also be impacted. U.S. utility companies are monitoring the potential threat to the power grid as well according to CNN.
The video below was posted by BBC Meteorologist @MetMattTaylor.
"This is the astounding view as far south as Switzerland a short while ago… on top of Jungfraujoch," he posted.
Mark your calendars for our first zoom roundtable of the 2023/24 school year.
Tyler Byrd of Think Shrink Performance Coaching will be joining us to discuss the mental side of performance training.
The most expensive sports for kids:
1. Ice Hockey
2. Skiing
3. Field Hockey
The least expensive sport (yet one of the most beneficial for developing long-term athleticism)?
Track & Field
Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest athletes of all time.
In 2016, we got to see why.
Bryant gave a speech at an awards show.
He used the moment to address all athletes.
“We’re not on this stage just because of talent or ability,” Bryant said.
“We’re up here because of 4 am.
“We’re up here because of two-a-days or five-a-days.
“We’re up here because we had a dream and let nothing stand in our way.”
It was the Mamba Mentality on full display.

LESSON: You can’t cheat the work
Bryant was an obsessive athlete.
• He’d workout at 4am
• He’d train 3x as much (or more) as others
• He had a ruthlessly competitive mindset
He’s the perfect example of what happens when elite talent and work ethic come together.
The lesson here isn’t to be Kobe Bryant.
• You don’t need to wake up at 3am (sleep is good)
• You don’t need to constantly train (over-training is real)
• You don’t need to be ruthlessly competitive (there’s a dark side)
But whatever your craft, you can’t cheat the work.
There’s a process to becoming great (at anything).
• It requires time, intention and discipline
• It demands an unreasonable commitment
• It’s not for the lukewarm or the faint-hearted
There’s no shortcut to the highest mountains.

Athletes I want to remind you that no matter what level you are at you are influencing someone & others do watch & pay attention.
Therefore walk in integrity & be mindful of your actions, words & behaviors.
Someone you may not know is watching & looking up to you.
High school freshman and sophs . Playing JV to get maximum reps is not punishment or disrespectful . You are the future of the program and you need to develop!!!
“We’re not a bunch of powerlifters, we’re not Olympic lifters or bodybuilders…we’re athletes.”

As coach @mboyle1959 would say, train to be lions not elephants/rhinos
DISCIPLINE IS A WAY OF LIFE
This entire clip from Coach Saban is pure gold. Discipline is everything. Every player should watch this clip understanding how they do drills in practice, how they warm up, or do anything is a mentality. It can't be turned on or off.
"How do you program without percentages?"
This is one of the most common questions I get
No-percentages is actually how I program for most teams now
Since so many ask, I made a free how-to guide
RT this and comment "send" and I'll DM it to you
Must be following so I can DM
Every HS has started their summer program. Players you got to remember: What your doing isn’t special, It’s how you do it that makes it special. Can you bring it every day? Consistency vs Intensity is key!
I can only speak for myself, but I would be more than happy to pay more for gas if it caused havoc for Putin. I'd ride a bike for months if it made a difference.
I don’t understand where commitment to athletics turned into not being able to take a break or have family time. Trust me, your athletes need the break, physically and mentally. Teaching kids to pick sports over family? Sorry but no.
One of the challenges of coaching is to redefine "fun." Fun in sport is not feeling comfortable. Fun is going to a great opponent's home arena, quieting the crowd, and leaving victorious because of preparation, discipline, and execution. Congratulations Nebraska Volleyball.
